In a revealing interview, Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, shared her struggles with the intense pressures of public life, and found support from ITV news presenter Tom Bradby.
Meghan has received additional support from Charlene White, a panelist on the ITV show Loose Women.
The 45-year-old broadcaster has strongly criticized the public’s harsh treatment of Meghan, Duchess of Sussex. They believe the intense public interest in her has become excessively negative and harmful.
At the British Diversity Awards, while helping to host the event, Rochelle Humes explained to me how baffling it is that people can become so intensely invested – both positively and negatively – in the lives of public figures like Harry and Meghan, especially considering they’ve never personally met them. She pointed out that an episode focusing on the couple would likely dominate social media conversations for weeks, and she simply can’t understand the strong reactions from complete strangers.
I’m still shocked and can’t quite wrap my head around it. I enjoy talking about her because I believe it’s important to have these conversations without simply trying to gain attention or criticize another woman.
‘I think that’s really important, when for some beating her down is almost a sport.’
Rhiannon White is used to receiving criticism and has previously faced strong reactions from viewers. She received significant backlash, with some people calling for her removal, after consistently declining to wear a Remembrance Day poppy while on television.
Her decision, she insists, was down to strict impartiality rules linked to her charity work.
Charlene explains that after the initial incident in 2015, she developed a strong emotional defense to prevent it from constantly affecting her thoughts and feelings.
Last year, when it happened again, I was still grieving my father’s suicide, and even though people knew I was vulnerable, they still targeted me.
White admits she’s still carrying that loss, and it’s changed how she shows up, on and off screen.
I recently took a week to recharge, and it really highlighted something for me. I realized how draining it is to constantly put on a brave face and pretend everything’s okay. It’s been a big lesson – I’m learning that I don’t need to do that every single day. Self-care is key, and allowing myself to simply be is so important.
Why Holly has a brighter outlook
It’s hard to believe Holly Willoughby would feel good about being described as ‘simple and lightweight.’
The comment wasn’t about her intelligence or personality, but about a glass hallway she and her husband, television producer Dan Baldwin, have been trying to add to their country home.
Things looked discouraging for the homeowners when their city council rejected their plans to connect their main house to a separate building. The council thought the design was unsuitable and would overshadow the property.
Holly, recently impacted by the cancellation of her shows You Bet! On Tour and Celebrity Bear Hunt, is still a force to be reckoned with.
After purchasing their £8 million home outright in 2024, she and Dan, both 50, appealed to a government inspector, who recently sided with them.
Sara Hyde, recently made a Baroness by Keir Starmer, used to criticize the House of Lords as “a daft, elitist idea.” Now, as Baroness Hyde of Bemerton, she’ll receive £371 per day for her work there, raising questions about whether her views have changed.
Ricky Gervais didn’t take it lightly when a fan suggested he resembled Wayne Rooney.
The comedian, known for his sharp wit and role in ‘The Office,’ jokingly protested, ‘I like Wayne Rooney, but that wasn’t really a compliment, was it?’ He then added with a laugh, ‘You don’t think I’m considered one of England’s all-time best footballers, do you?’
‘You were talking about my face. There’s nothing wrong with Wayne Rooney’s face.
‘I’m just saying that the tone of that suggests that maybe I look like a hefty Scouser.’
Hijack comes back to haunt Jemima on ‘bumpy’ flight
Jemima Goldsmith has never really shaken off her fear of flying.
In 2000, while traveling to Kenya on a British Airways flight, she experienced a terrifying hijacking. The plane dropped 10,000 feet before the pilot was able to regain control.
This week, turbulence on a London-to-Rome flight tested her nerves again.
The 52-year-old film producer shared online how thankful they were for the British Airways crew on flight BA560 today, saying they were incredibly kind and supportive when the plane hit some bumpy turbulence and they became frightened.
She described a terrifying past flight where a British Airways plane she was on was hijacked in a suicide attempt. Even now, she occasionally gets anxious when turbulence occurs.
Queen gives Marisha royal approval
West End star Marisha Wallace has won royal praise from Queen Camilla.
The 40-year-old American actress and singer met Queen Elizabeth and Paddington Bear earlier this year at a reception held at Windsor Castle for the BBC’s 500 Words competition final. She recently told me at a charity event in Manchester that the Queen had said to her, ‘You bring so much joy to people with your voice. You make people cry. It’s a gift what you have.’
Wallace recalls being amazed, thinking, ‘It’s incredible – here I am, a girl from a rural background, raised on a farm, singing in this beautiful hall while wearing this gown.’
It’s amazing to think about how few Black people have had the opportunity to perform in those halls, and I’m proud to be among those who are changing that.
