Jonathan Majors and Meagan Good reveal they are engaged at Ebony Power 100 Gala
As a cinephile with a keen eye for Hollywood drama, I must say, the romance between Jonathan Majors and Meagan Good is a rollercoaster ride that keeps me on the edge of my seat. Their relationship, much like a well-crafted screenplay, has had its fair share of ups and downs, twists and turns.
Jonathan Majors and Meagan Good are preparing for a significant step forward in their union: they plan to get married.
The actors publicly announced their engagement during the Ebony Power 100 Gala, returning to where they claimed their romance began. As Majors shared with E! News, “We first met here two years ago.” Good also disclosed that she encountered her future spouse in the event’s gender-neutral restrooms.
In March 2023, Major, who was arrested in New York City under suspicion of assaulting his former girlfriend Grace Jabbari, started dating a woman who proudly displayed her engagement ring. This incident marked the beginning of a challenging phase for Major, who had previously been gaining rapid momentum towards major Hollywood success.
Initially set to lead Marvel into its next phase, the actor of “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” faced a swift decline in public favor as accusations of physical and emotional abuse emerged, becoming the focus of a two-week criminal trial in New York. Throughout the trial, Good, aged 43, was frequently captured on camera accompanying her former boyfriend to and from a Manhattan courthouse.
In December 2023, a court in Manhattan concluded that Majors, aged 35, was guilty on one count each of third-degree assault and second-degree harassment. However, he was found not guilty on another assault charge and a charge of aggravated harassment. Shortly following this verdict, Marvel chose to part ways with the actor who starred in “Lovecraft Country”.
After four months, a New York judge determined that Majors wouldn’t spend time in jail but rather be subjected to domestic violence counseling instead. The actor was mandated to finish a 52-week face-to-face batterers’ intervention program and continue his ongoing mental health treatment.
After his trial and sentencing, Majors has mainly stayed out of the public spotlight. However, in June, he made an appearance at Hollywood Unlocked’s Impact Awards where he was honored with the Perseverance Award. During this event, Majors spoke about his arrest (“I knew things were really bad”), expressed gratitude towards Good, who he refers to as his “queen”, for her support, and shared his love for his daughter Ella.
Actress, who gained recognition from “Divorce in the Black” by Tyler Perry, has revealed her engagement to Majors, approximately three years following the announcement of her divorce with Devon Franklin, a renowned producer, author, and inspirational speaker.
Having spent considerable time reflecting and seeking guidance, they announced on their social media platforms that they will pursue separate paths while maintaining an unbreakable bond. They reminisced about nearly a decade of marriage filled with everlasting love and declared no one to be at fault. They viewed this decision as the next beautiful phase in the journey of their relationship.
On Sunday, Good chose not to disclose the specifics of Majors’ proposals, as there were two of them. Instead, when speaking with E!, Good stated, “We prefer to keep it private.
She added: “I was very shocked and it was wonderful.”
