Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash are not legally married. 

The couple had a wedding celebration at their home, Pickle Cottage, in July 2022, but it’s now come to light that they never officially registered the marriage, meaning it wasn’t legal.

Stacey, 36, explained that they intended to officially register their marriage after the wedding because their venue wasn’t authorized to host civil ceremonies.

But three and a half years on, TV’s golden couple have still not made their union official. 

This surprising news follows just two weeks after the TV star was asked about her relationship with 44-year-old Joe, after she was spotted not wearing her wedding ring.

According to a source, they always planned to take legal steps, but with six children and hectic schedules, they just haven’t found the time. Life has simply gotten in the way.

‘Stacey and Joe obviously knew that their garden wedding wasn’t legal and were upfront about that.’ 

Fans of Stacey and Joe, who followed the couple on their BBC reality show, may be surprised to hear this news.

The family’s life included raising their three young children: six-year-old Rex, four-year-old Rose, and three-year-old Belle. Stacey also has two older sons, Zachary, 18, and Leighton, 13, from previous relationships, and Joe has a son named Harry from a previous relationship.

Stacey also has lucrative family fashion ranges with Asda and Primark.  

According to a source, the fact that the seemingly flawless picture was fabricated will likely shock both companies and television executives who invested in it.

The couple first met back in 2010 on the set of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!

But Stacey and Joe didn’t start dating until 2016 and moved in together two years later.

Stacey explained the requirements for getting married legally. She pointed out that a venue needs a specific license to host a civil ceremony.

To get this license, the location must be easily accessible for events.

Since this is our family home and we want to keep it that way, that option wasn’t possible for us.

We’re planning a small, intimate ceremony with our closest loved ones to celebrate our commitment to each other.

‘We will register our marriage legally after.’ 

The wedding celebration at their house featured a performance by James Argent’s band, and Mrs. Hinch was one of the bridesmaids.

Linda Robson, a panelist on Loose Woman, age 64, and former TOWIE cast member Ricky Rayment, 31, both attended the wedding as guests.

Oh my gosh, you guys, I heard from someone who knows them, and they said Stacey and Joe seriously had the absolute best day of their lives! I mean, it sounds like everything was perfect, just absolutely perfect for them. I’m so happy for them, honestly!

It was a perfect day – the weather was beautiful, and everyone had a wonderful time with family and kids.

Stacey wanted her wedding day to both honor her Jewish heritage and feel modern and enjoyable for all her guests.

They dreamed of a small, private wedding at home, and that’s exactly what they got – a perfectly intimate celebration.

Stacey recently clarified her relationship with Joe on the show This Morning. She addressed rumors about a possible split that started when she was seen without her wedding ring.

Ben Shephard, the show’s host, addressed the recent gossip surrounding Stacey and asked her to clarify what was happening.

Stacey replied: ‘What are they? Go on. There’s a new rumour each week!’

Ben explained: ‘You’ve not been wearing your ring. There might be some issues going on?’ 

‘Do you know what, I am terrible. I don’t read any of that stuff.

‘In fact, does anyone anymore?’ Stacey asked.

Oh, and I just realized… have I forgotten to put my ring on? I probably took it off to use the restroom or something.

Ben explained that a lot is happening right now, as the plans for the lake are finally becoming a reality.

‘He was talking to us the other day…’

Stacey joked: ‘Maybe I dropped my ring in the lake… with our marriage!’ 

Rumors about trouble in the couple’s relationship started when viewers saw them having a disagreement on their reality show, Stacey & Joe.

Stacey and Joe had a fight after Joe unexpectedly spent the whole day away. The argument escalated when Joe accused Stacey of being unreasonable and overreacting during a disagreement about parenting, leading Stacey to end the phone call.

However, they both agreed they didn’t want to avoid discussing the issue, as some couples might.

Joe has pointed out that many people present an idealized version of their lives on Instagram. He believes it’s important to be authentic and share both the good and bad moments.

‘It’s not all a bed of roses. Sometimes we argue.’

Stacey explained that everyone is seeing her and her partner as they truly are, and they’ve both realized they aren’t a flawless match.
