As a die-hard fan of action-packed movies with a dash of humor, I can’t help but feel exhilarated by the news that Glenn Close is stepping into the role made famous by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the cult classic “The Running Man.

Glen Powell had a completely different appearance, sporting a brunette wig and eyeglasses, while shooting scenes for the reboot of “The Running Man” in Glasgow on Sunday.

The filming for Edgar Wright’s eagerly awaited remake of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s iconic movie started at Battersea Power Station earlier this month.

Leading man Glen, 36, is taking on the role famously played by Arnold in the 1987 action film.

Instead of being himself, Glen opted for a transformation into Ben Richards. He traded his bronde-colored hair for a sleek dark wig and donned a sharp, well-tailored suit.

Glen was spotted with team members during the ongoing shoot of an exhilarating movie, which is now underway, approximately three years following the initial announcement of its remake.

The renowned British filmmaker known as Edgar is undertaking a massive project: remaking a beloved action movie that originated from Stephen King’s book, but under the pen name Richard Bachman.

The movie is set in a bleak, futuristic society, where a popular television program focuses on individuals who are fugitives from ruthless assassins after committing crimes.

Arnold’s original movie is set in a United States between 2017 and 2019.

So far, Edgar hasn’t specified the time period or given his personal perspective on the iconic film, but it’s been said that his adaptation will be closer to Stephen King’s original book.

The novel centered on a desperate man who needs money for his sick daughter, so he joins the popular TV show The Running Man.

As a contestant stays in the competition for a longer period, they accumulate more earnings, and eventually, Richard will uncover the hidden truths and seemingly malicious aspects of the show’s management.

Since 2021, Edgar has taken a keen interest in this project, having previously expressed his desire to rework it as the movie he’s most eager to recreate.

Alongside Michael Cera, John Brolin, William H. Macy, and Scott Pilgrim portrayed by Wright have been added to the ensemble.

During an interview with IndieWire over the summer, Glen enthusiastically shared that he will be filming The Running Man this fall.

‘We’ve been going back and forth on script stuff, and it’s so fun.’

In simpler terms, ‘Edgar’s creation in this project is absolutely mind-blowing, it’s fantastic! We’re both massive fans of the Stephen King book [the film adapts], and we’re really excited that it’s going to have a fantastic character. I can hardly contain my excitement about it!’

For a long time, the actor has held director Edgar (from Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz) as his number one choice among potential collaborators he dreams of working with.

He explained: ‘I searched my email, and I searched Edgar Wright in my email, and it came up: I had a wish list of directors that I wanted to work with in 2008 when I moved out to LA that I sent my agent at the time — and Edgar Wright is literally number one.’

I’m quite a fan of Edgar Wright, and the opportunity to collaborate with him currently feels incredibly exciting!

Over the years, the initial film directed by Paul Michael Glaser has become a cult classic following its modest earnings at the box office in 1987 and mixed opinions from film critics.
