Father of I’m A Celebrity star Maura Higgins heartbroken after she cut him off following a ‘horrendous’ phone call that left her unable to breathe

Lorry driver Seamus Higgins is at a loss to explain why his model daughter has shut him out of her life for the last few years and cannot even recall the conversation which sparked the rift, a family source told TopMob.
33-year-old Maura shared on a recent podcast that her bond with her father deteriorated following his separation from her mom, Sharon, and it worsened when she took part in Love Island in 2019.
According to a source familiar with the situation, Maura’s father, Seamus, has found her statements hard to accept and is feeling distressed and bewildered by them.
He simply can’t grasp its origin; despite this, she remains his daughter without a doubt. However, he’s at a loss as to her conversation, and it has left a profound impact on him.
As the sun sets, I find myself first and foremost as a devoted family man. My heart swells with love for my son and daughters, and should Maura encounter any troubles, I yearn to resolve them. However, I am at a loss to understand the source of these recent challenges.
‘They haven’t spoken for a while but he’s busy trucking and she’s busy in London so that’s understandable but he just doesn’t know where all this animosity has come from.’
Maura was raised in the quaint town of Ballymahon, nestled within County Longford in Ireland. Alongside her, she has siblings named Becki and Louise, making up a family of four.
The source stated: ‘Nobody, including Seamus himself, seems to fully understand the cause of the conflict, and it’s unlikely that he would share this knowledge with others.’
He’s quite secluded and frequently absent due to work commitments, which means we don’t get many opportunities to spend time with him.
It’s common for him to be away from home for around eight to nine consecutive days due to his frequent, extensive driving trips across Europe.
‘But he does find it hard not speaking with his daughter, as anyone in his situation would. I really hope he and Maura reunite soon.’
Previously known as a ring girl, Maura is among the 12 famous personalities embarking on this year’s I’m a Celebrity adventure in Australia. She was recently featured on Paul C Brunson’s podcast, “We Need To Talk,” which is also hosted by Married At First Sight’s relationship expert.
In a conversation that took place two weeks ago and lasted for two hours, she disclosed how a confrontation with her 56-year-old father had deeply affected her emotionally.
She said: ‘It’s kind of weird. We haven’t spoken in a few years now.
My father had a harsh conversation with me, one that went beyond a simple disagreement. The conversation left me feeling utterly overwhelmed and struggling to catch my breath following the call.
As a lifestyle expert, I often reflect on the importance of healthy relationships, and in that moment, I pondered, “I won’t tolerate disrespectful speech from a romantic partner, nor a friend, and certainly not from my father. I choose to establish boundaries and respect for myself.
However, I believe I’ve never truly managed to forgive my father for his absence during the time of my best friend’s passing. Regrettably, he was not present for me then.
In the year 2017, tragically, Andrew Rowan, who was more like family to her, met an untimely end at the tender age of 26. The incident occurred when his motorbike collided with three vehicles in County Athlone, Ireland, leaving us all shocked and heartbroken.

the podcast, as she struggled to adapt to her new celebrity life in London.
Overwhelmed with emotion, she expressed that it felt as though she had been suddenly transported to the UK, thrust into the limelight. She found herself without a place to stay, without friends or family, and lacking someone she could confide in.
‘I’ve done everything by myself. I’ve been independent my whole life. But that was a lot. That was scary. Very, very scary.’
She added: ‘I had a breakdown. I had dark thoughts, very dark thoughts. And it got to a stage where I don’t even think I told my mam. I tell my mum everything. I didn’t tell her how bad it was.
‘I didn’t want to be here anymore. I thought that was going to be the best thing.
Adjusting to a new nation under intense public scrutiny can be absolutely petrifying. Wearing a mask of cheerfulness drained my mental energy to no end. There were numerous actions I took, yet I can scarcely recall them now. I was in a state of misery.
This week, it appears that Seamus was occupied with a job in Belfast, collecting a delivery, which prevented him from being reached when TopMob tried visiting his home located outside Ballymahon.
In a brief message relayed through an intercom system, his second spouse, Frances, indicated that she and her husband preferred not to discuss Maura or ‘I’m a Celebrity’.
However, Seamus’s heartfelt remarks following his daughter’s participation on Love Island five years ago, where she placed fourth, make the recent coldness from her even more perplexing.
On the television show, Maura and her romantic partner, Curtis Pritchard, celebrated an enthusiastic return to Ballymahon following their departure from the villa in Majorca.
Seamus told Irish newspaper Sunday World
how he shared a few pints with Curtis in the local pub and ‘found him to be a genuine bloke’
He said he wasn’t embarrassed by his daughter’s antics on the show adding:
It might be due to my contemporary fatherhood approach. What truly discomforted me was observing Maura showing signs of distress or irritation.
‘I’m still very emotional thinking about it all. We went to meet them all at the airport the other day.
‘Everyone else is looking at Maura as this star but she’s still my little girl and always will be.’
Earlier, Seamus was interviewed by Virgin Media News right next to his truck prior to the Love Island finale.
Eagerly, he expressed his anticipation for their reunion, stating: “I can hardly contain my excitement to embrace her tightly and offer a warm hug.

Since her appearance on the reality show Love Island, Maura has also been seen on Dancing on Ice and presented segments for This Morning.
One of the ways she’ll enter the competition “I’m A Celebrity” is by teaming up with Reverend Richard Coles, who was once a pop star and is now a vicar. They will both join other contestants in Australia next week.
At present, Maura is taking delight in her final moments of opulence, preparing to venture into the intense jungle heat. There, she’ll rest on a hammock and subsist on a diet primarily consisting of rice and beans.

The couple have been together since August.
On Wednesday evening, Maura, known for dating Giovanni Pernice from Strictly, footballer Connor Wickham, and actor Bobby Holland Hanton, reserved a room at the luxury Middle Eight hotel in Covent Garden before embarking on her 21-hour journey to Australia the following day.
Back in her hometown of Ballymahon, friends and relatives will keep a keen eye on her journey towards being crowned Queen of the Jungle.
Before becoming a hairdresser, she attended the Forgney National School and later, the Ballymahon Vocational School. After her education, she honed her skills as a hairstylist and worked at two local salons: Occasions Hair Studio and Halo Hair Design.
Margo Kilkenny, the proprietor and overseer at Halo, who was Maura’s trainer, expressed confidence in her: “Without a doubt, we’ll all be cheering her on.
‘She worked with me for three years between 2015 and 2018 as a qualified stylist.
Maura was exceptionally kind to elderly women, particularly Lily, who visited each Saturday for a hairdo. Afterward, Maura often accompanied Lily on shopping trips and escorted her back home.
Over time, she decided to focus solely on modeling and promotions, and as such, she moved on from there. In her spare time, she served as a bell girl in boxing matches and a track girl during motorcycle races.
‘I still keep in contact with her. I’ll drop
her a message now and again but she’s so busy now, I’ve not heard from her in more than a year.
Yet, Maura possesses an exceptional personality. There’s no pretense; she is genuinely who she appears to be. Her storytelling abilities are captivating, effortlessly pulling you into her narratives.
