Despite lots of exciting news and additions to other major movie series, the future of James Bond remains uncertain. The last film, No Time to Die starring Daniel Craig, came out in 2021, and the series is now experiencing one of its longest breaks between movies. The only longer gap occurred between the films starring Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan in the late 80s and early 90s. Earlier this year, the Bond franchise was sold to Amazon, with producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson handing over complete control, signaling a fresh start for the iconic spy.
Since Daniel Craig finished his run as James Bond after five films (2008-2021), many famous actors have been considered to take on the role. Rising stars like Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jacob Elordi, and Jonathan Bailey, as well as established actors known for superhero roles like Henry Cavill and Tom Holland, have all been mentioned as possible candidates. Now, as discussions about the future of Bond intensify, one of the actors being considered has spoken about what it’s like to be in the running.
In an interview with Esquire UK, Bridgerton’s Regé-Jean Page addressed the rumors linking him to the role of James Bond. He described the speculation as “strange” and “not normal,” explaining that he handles the conversation strategically, focusing on what benefits his career and allows him to do his best work as an actor.
It feels unusual and definitely not typical. I focus on what’s practical and helps me succeed at work – specifically, being able to provide what my audience needs. A big part of that is staying centered and grounded.

He shared that these discussions can become extremely heated and emotionally draining for him personally. Despite this, he’s learned to manage the surrounding conversations and maintain a sense of normalcy in his day-to-day life.
The inside was really noisy – a lot of intense chatter. I made a deliberate effort to stay calm and act normally despite the overwhelming atmosphere.
For years, Regé-Jean Page has been a popular choice among fans to be the next James Bond, especially after his successful role in Bridgerton. Even Pierce Brosnan, a previous Bond actor, has publicly supported Page, saying he’d be excellent in the role. While many would likely embrace him as the new 007 after Daniel Craig’s time as Bond, it’s unclear when the franchise will begin work on a new film, having last released a new installment five years ago.
