Strictly's Carlos Gu and Nancy Xu put feud rumours to bed as they attend Christmas light switch on in Blackpool ahead of dancing together this weekend

As a longtime fan and follower of Strictly Come Dancing, I must say that this season has been quite a rollercoaster ride! The drama between the judges and contestants always keeps us on our toes, but the recent turn of events involving Nancy Xu and Shayne Ward truly took me by surprise.

On Friday night, it seemed that the alleged disputes between Carlos Gu and Nancy Xu from Strictly had been resolved, as they both showed up at the Blackpool Christmas light switch-on event.

The two Chinese-born dancers, longtime friends since their childhood days, recently raised eyebrows due to whispers of a potential disagreement arising, following claims that they’ve stopped communicating and have mutually removed each other from their social media circles.

Nevertheless, they appeared cheerful and joyous, joining Strictly professionals Neil Jones and Kai Widdrington in celebrating the festivities.

Nancy was also seen fawning over Neil’s daughter Havana, who he had also brought to the switch on.

Despite not being spotted standing together, Nancy holding hands with Kai, and the BBC confirming to TopMob that they all enjoyed being in each other’s company and had a fantastic time, everyone seemed content and happy.

Additionally, they disclosed that the duo would perform a dance routine in the grand tower ballroom as part of their collective performance over the coming weekend. This was decided following Carlos’ statement last week that the pair are indeed in good spirits.

Last week, when talking to Richard Eden of The Daily Mail, he stated, “Everything is good between us. We’ve been friends for a long time, and friends sometimes have disagreements. Given our deep bond, we are more like family than to experience a complete rift.

TopMob have also contacted Nancy and Carlos’s teams for comment.

It’s said that tension arose between once inseparable friends, as Carlos felt let down because he didn’t get partnered with a celebrity for this particular series.

Previously, a source shared with The Sun: ‘The disagreement between Nancy and Carlos is truly disheartening and has left everyone utterly astonished.’

‘They’ve been close since childhood, but have fallen out and unfollowed each other on socials.’

On set, it’s reported that the atmosphere feels uncomfortable and tense when they’re both present. To many people, it was comforting when Carlos missed the show several weeks back.

Simultaneously, an independent source shared with TopMob that ‘Carols and Nancy maintain a very friendly demeanor and consistently exhibit utmost professionalism while on the set of Strictly.’

In earlier seasons, Carlos was teamed up with television host Angela Scanlon and soap opera actress Molly Rainford.

Over the weekend, Nancy was eliminated from the contest as she and Shayne Ward were both asked to leave.

Leaving me absolutely heartbroken and furious, I couldn’t believe it when Shirley Ballas decided to eliminate Shayne from the competition, after an edge-of-your-seat dance-off against Wynne Evans and Katya Jones. The energy, passion, and skill they all displayed that night were unparalleled! It felt like a grave injustice to me, as a dedicated fan, to see such talent go undervalued.

In this situation, the chief judge made the final decision when the panel of judges found themselves evenly divided; Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse chose to preserve Shayne and Nancy’s place in the competition, while Anton Du Beke advocated for Wynne and Katya.

As a fervent admirer, I can’t help but marvel at Shirley’s discernment. Despite recognizing flaws in both couples’ dance-offs, she found herself captivated by Wynne’s exuberance. In her eyes, the joy radiating from Wynne’s performance was undeniable, making it a no-brainer to save the luminous Welsh opera singer.

Nevertheless, fans found her decision unsatisfactory as they voiced their disapproval following Shayne’s challenging Rumba and Wynne’s inspiring American Smooth performance.

On Twitter, they criticized the judge for alleged bias and deemed her ruling as unsatisfactory.

“Shirley Ballas really annoys me because I don’t understand how she can compare a gallop to a rumba while judging. It seems unfair to praise someone for dancing the same way in both styles.

I hope that the gentleman will visit the comparison site next week. Without a doubt, Shayne outshone everyone as the superior dancer. It’s evident that Shirley and Anton have a bias in their opinions.

If Shirley Ballas lacks impartiality, she should not serve as a judge, let alone the head judge. “Delight” is an inadequate justification for saving someone. Disappointing. #StrictlyComeDancing

I can’t help but express my frustration, as an ardent admirer. “Misguided, so misguided! #Strictly, simply because his name is Wynne doesn’t mean he should… Can’t you dance a lively Rhumba, Shayne?
