Gemma Atkinson is glowing as she arrives in Blackpool to support fiancé Gorka Marquez – while Katya Jones cuts a glum figure amid Wynne Evans being tipped to leave the show
As a dance enthusiast with over two decades of experience under my sequined belt, I must say that this year’s Strictly Come Dancing lineup has truly outdone itself. The energy and passion these celebrities bring to the ballroom each week are nothing short of inspiring.
On her way to Blackpool, Gemma Atkinson radiated a luminous aura, eager to back her Strictly professional partner and fiancé, Gorka Marquez, in preparation for the upcoming special live event set for Saturday evening.
On that day, the 40-year-old radio host and ex-actress was filled with joy when her five-year-old daughter Mia and one-year-old son Thiago, whom she was wheeling in a stroller, joined her.
On her birthday, which fell on a Thursday, Gemma opted for a relaxed appearance in blue denim pants, a black tee, and added a stylish touch with a charcoal gray trench coat.
She gathered her long, golden hair into a ponytail and chose a simple makeup look for the occasion, highlighting her authentic charm.
In the coastal town, professional dancer Katya Jones arrived, appearing disheartened after reports suggested she and her famous partner Wynne Evans might exit the contest this week.
The 35-year-old dancer appeared somber as she walked through Blackpool, wearing a black and gray checked shirt paired with athletic leggings and heavy boots.
She finished off her outfit with a large, black-and-white puffa coat, while carrying a shopping bag casually.
As a lifestyle connoisseur, I must share some intriguing insights about the upcoming weekend’s competition. It seems that Wynne and Katya are predicted to leave us, based on current betting trends, standing at roughly 4-to-6 odds. In simpler terms, it appears their journey in this contest might be coming to a close soon.
According to Ladbrokes, it’s possible that Wynne may compete against ex-TOWIE star Pete Wicks during a dance-off. Given his odds of 3/1, there is a strong probability that Wynne might be the one who gets eliminated from the competition.
Later on, Gorka was seen sipping a warm beverage from Starbucks while heading towards Blackpool Tower with his fiancée and kids, preparing for rehearsals.
In 2017, they (he and Gemma) initially crossed paths when she was teamed up with his acting partner, Aljaž Škorjanec, but it wasn’t until 2021 that they officially became engaged.
This year, it was Gorka who exited the competition in fifth place alongside his dancing partner, Dr. Punam Krishan.
On her 40th birthday, which fell on Thursday, radio host Gemma had a unique broadcast filled with heartfelt messages from her mother, spouse Gorka, child Mia, along with dance partners Janette Manrara and Aljaz from Strictly Come Dancing.
On their way to Blackpool was Tasha Ghouri, Aljaz’s present celebrity dance partner, prior to the famous show on Saturday.
Previously a contestant on Love Island, aged 26, enthusiastically interacted with fans who excitedly waited for the cast’s appearance, showcasing her lively demeanor.
She looked effortlessly stylish in baggy blue jeans and platform Ugg boots, paired with a tan trench coat and cosy scarf.
While JB Gill exuded confidence upon his arrival in Blackpool, this came following his shared first place on the leaderboard last week with his professional dance partner, Lauren Oakley.
37-year-old The JLS star took time out for fan selfies while sporting fashionable heart-shaped sunglasses.
Additionally, Chris McCausland arrived and extended warm welcomes to those patiently waiting outside the renowned Ballroom.
Sarah chose a laid-back ensemble when she showed up for rehearsals, wearing a tanned tracksuit and a vibrant blue jacket.
Johannas Radebe chose an equally warm outfit, put on his coat, and picked up a warm beverage when he arrived at the filming location.
Somewhere else, after their elimination last week, Shayne Ward’s dance partner, Nancy Xu, didn’t let it dampen her spirits. Instead, she showcased a lively performance right outside the Tower Ballroom.
The star was stylishly dressed in a long black gown and a grey trench coat, accessorized with a white beanie for warmth.
Nikita Kuzmin brought a burst of brightness to his relaxed outfit by donning a vibrant neon pink hat, while he playfully posed for the camera.
Karen Huer was equally captivating, sporting an elegant, single-tone green outfit, when she mingled with her fellow actors in Blackpool.
After the performances of the dance routines for the show have been unveiled, it’s now up to the eight remaining pairs to give their best and make a strong impression.
During Blackpool Week, Montell Douglas and Johannes Radebe will ignite the floor with a fiery Salsa performance set to Don’t Leave Me This Way by Thelma Houston. Meanwhile, Sarah Hadland and Vito Coppola will present an enchanting Couples’ Choice routine choreographed to Padam Padam by Kylie Minogue.
In a Paso Doble choreography, Tasha Ghouri and Aljaž Skorjanec will infuse intensity with the song “Torn” by Nathan Lanier. Meanwhile, Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell are set to dance the American Smooth routine accompanied by “Jump” performed by Paul Anka.
Jamie Borthwick and Michelle Tsiakkas are set to liven up the ballroom with their rendition of The Ketchup Song (Aserejé) by Las Ketchup, bringing a burst of energy to the dance floor.
JB Gill and Lauren Oakley will perform a Quickstep to Never Gonna Give You Up by Rick Astley.
Pete Wicks and Jowita Przystał will bring some playful charm to the Cha Cha rendition of I’m Too Sexy by Right Said Fred, while Wynne Evans and Katya Jones will deliver an energetic Charleston performance set to Carmen Suite No. 1: 5. Les Toréadors by Georges Bizet.
During that particular Blackpool special, the guest performance will be none other than the iconic Pet Shop Boys.
On Saturday evening, they’ll kick off the performance with a blend of their most popular tunes, accompanied by the professional dancers from Strictly for an exciting opening act.
Then, on Sunday night’s Results Show, they will perform their brand-new single All The Young Dudes.
Look forward to the eagerly awaited dance performance by skilled professionals, taking place at the illustrious Tower Ballroom in Blackpool. The routine will include an Argentine Tango, set within a luxurious 1940s-style hotel atmosphere.
The dance performance, orchestrated by Matt Flint, Leandro Palou, and Maria Tsiatsiani, is set to feature the skilled ensemble of our professional dancers, as well as additional backup dancers.
Under the seductive rhythm of Tango Jalousie, the show is designed to envelop spectators in an era of lavish elegance and deep emotion.
Watch the Strictly Blackpool Special on BBC1 Saturday night.
