TV Funnyman Conan O’Brien to Host the 2025 Oscars
As a lifelong fan of comedy and late-night television, I am thrilled to see Conan O’Brien stepping into the hosting role for the 2025 Academy Awards! With his witty humor and knack for making even the most serious subjects laughable, he is perfectly suited to keep the Oscars audience entertained throughout the night.
NEW YORK – One year following the appointment of comedian Jimmy Kimmel as the host for their major event, The Academy Awards is planning a shift in hosting duties and has chosen another well-known television humorist, Conan O’Brien.
“America demanded it and now it’s happening: Taco Bell’s new Cheesy Chalupa Supreme. In other news, I’m hosting the Oscars,” O’Brien said in a statement Friday.
He’s set to make his debut as the Oscar host for the first time, but he has previously hosted other prestigious award ceremonies such as the Emmy Awards back in 2002 and 2006, and the White House Correspondents’ dinner in 1995 and 2013.
The Oscars will air live on ABC on March 2, 2025.

Conan O’Brien is mainly recognized for his tenure as the host of several late-night talk shows, including “Late Night with Conan O’Brien,” “The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien,” and simply “Conan.” Prior to his successful television hosting career, O’Brien was a scriptwriter for renowned shows like “Saturday Night Live” and “The Simpsons.
O’Brien is now part of the esteemed group of Oscar hosts that already includes names like Johnny Carson, Billy Crystal, David Letterman, Whoopi Goldberg, Chris Rock, Jon Stewart, Hugh Jackman, and Neil Patrick Harris.
