The Marvel Cinematic Universe is always facing threats, with villains constantly putting the world in danger. Thankfully, heroes throughout the multiverse are ready to risk everything to protect us. But one group of heroes often gets overlooked: vigilantes like Daredevil and the team he’s building.
In Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again, Matt Murdock is one of the few who dares to challenge Mayor Wilson Fisk and his Anti-Vigilante Task Force. In the third episode, “The Scales & The Sword,” Matt finally finds a way to infiltrate the Red Hook Port facility. But once inside, he discovers a group of prisoners who need his help, changing his initial plans.
Jack Duquesne, also known as the Swordsman, was the first person Kingpin tried to stop for acting outside the law. Daredevil quickly starts to trust him, even giving him a weapon to help them escape. They work well together, successfully getting everyone to safety and disrupting Kingpin’s schemes.
Duquesne has become part of a select group of heroes who’ve teamed up with Daredevil. While he’s still developing his skills, simply being recognized alongside these established crime-fighters is a significant achievement.
Every Vigilante Daredevil Has Worked With in the MCU
Elektra

Matt Murdock and Elektra Natchios first connected through their shared mentor, Stick, and quickly formed a bond. Even after years apart, they easily rekindled their connection in Season 2 of Daredevil, teaming up to fight the Hand. Tragically, the Hand manipulated and ultimately killed Elektra, forcing Matt to witness her death.
Now that the Hand is appearing again in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, there’s a chance for the Marvel Cinematic Universe to reintroduce Elektra. Given everything happening in New York City, Matt Murdock could really benefit from the extra assistance.
Punisher

Just before Elektra returned, Matt Murdock, as Daredevil, faced off against Frank Castle, the Punisher, who unleashed a wave of violence across the city. Daredevil managed to subdue the Punisher, but he came to understand that it was more beneficial to work with the vigilante than to oppose him.
In the first season of Born Again, Matt repeatedly attempted to convince Frank to change his ways, but failed. He left Frank’s location feeling even more discouraged than before. Despite their conflicting ideologies, the Punisher ultimately helped Daredevil by confronting the AVTF about their misuse of his skull logo.
Jessica Jones

New York City always has people who need a lawyer, and Matt is usually quick to help. In The Defenders, he starts working with Jessica Jones on a case and discovers the involvement of a dangerous group called the Hand. They team up to defeat this shared enemy, and then go their separate ways once the threat is dealt with.
Despite everything, Jessica and Matt remained in contact. In Season 2, Episode 1 of Born Again, Karen Page contacted Jessica, asking for assistance in finding the missing captain and first mate. Jessica will also play a larger part in the season, eventually joining the battle against Fisk.
Luke Cage

In The Defenders, as Matt and Jessica were getting to know each other, Luke Cage was dealing with his own issues involving the Hand. He teamed up with Danny Rand, also known as Iron Fist, and they fought together before the rest of the Defenders joined them. Luke proved crucial in defeating the Hand and continued to have a strong connection with Jessica.
Luke Cage hasn’t appeared on Disney+, but Mike Colter is still interested in playing the character again. He’s open to returning if the circumstances are right, and believes a deal could be reached with Marvel Studios. He’s not demanding much, suggesting they should be able to work something out.
Iron Fist

Daredevil had good relationships with Jessica and Luke, but things were strained with Danny. They even fought in The Defenders, with Matt hurting Danny during the conflict. Luckily, they resolved their differences by the end of the show and learned to respect each other.
It feels like Finn Jones’ Danny Rand, just like Luke Cage, has been left out in the cold ever since Netflix cancelled the Marvel shows. I know there was a new Iron Fist in the Eyes of Wakanda cartoon, but it wasn’t our Iron Fist – it didn’t feel like the MCU even considered bringing Finn Jones back. But honestly, I’m still holding out hope! I just read that Born Again showrunner, Dario Scardapane, actually thinks about ways to bring Danny back pretty often, which is awesome to hear.
She-Hulk

Before starring in his own Disney+ series, Matt made a guest appearance on She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. He initially clashed with Jennifer Walters in court, but later teamed up with her to fight some bad guys. Jennifer was clearly impressed and the two shared a romantic evening together. In the She-Hulk finale, Matt even met Jennifer’s family, hinting at a possible future relationship.
When the events of Born Again began, Matt was completely focused on the loss of his close friend, Foggy Nelson, and wasn’t thinking about Jennifer. While it’s not known if they had a falling out, his silence during his difficult fight with Fisk suggests their relationship is strained.
