To begin, let’s discuss the narrative. In my view, it was rather shallow and lacked complexity. The tale revolves around a gang of social media personalities who venture into an abandoned Texas town with aspirations of rejuvenating it. However, their intentions take a dark turn when they stumble upon the notorious serial killer Leatherface, leading them to battle for their lives.

In addition, the characters weren’t developed fully, leaving viewers without a strong connection to them or their outcomes. The film leaned excessively on old-fashioned horror clichés and expected turns of events, resulting in a generic feel rather than something fresh and unique.

Let’s also discuss the absence of suspense and tension, which are key elements in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre series. However, this new movie seems to prioritize gore and startling moments over building an unsettling atmosphere. Lee Daniels should focus on his strengths, and it appears that horror isn’t one of them. Contrary to its categorization as a supernatural horror film, The Deliverance predominantly delves into family dynamics, making it more of a family drama than a horror story. The majority of the film focuses on the intricacies of a troubled family, while the supernatural elements only surface in the climax. Unfortunately, the poor CGI used in certain scenes, such as those set in the hospital and basement, detracted from the intended seriousness and instead left me chuckling.

In essence, “The Deliverance” struggles to find its cinematic identity, which may explain why it didn’t connect deeply with many spectators. However, the standout aspects of this movie were undeniably the powerful portrayals by Andra Day, Glenn Close, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, and Mo’Nique.

The narrative of “The Deliverance” is inspired by the genuinely chilling events experienced by Latoya Ammons and her family, focusing on a hardworking single mother and her kids as they fight to stay alive against an ominous supernatural entity that resides within their house in Pittsburgh.

Apologies, but “There’s Someone Inside Your House” seems to be a real bore-fest. It’s yet another disappointing horror flick with a dull and unsurprising storyline and uneven tempo. Despite being marketed as a slasher, it falls short on creating the necessary suspense and tension.

This production lacks depth in character development and acting quality isn’t impressive. If you’re looking for a decent slasher flick, opt for the “Scream” series over this mediocre attempt.
