We have our first look at Director Krennic in Andor Season 2

As a seasoned Star Wars enthusiast who’s spent countless hours poring over every detail and timeline, the return of Director Orson Krennic in Andor Season 2 is like a dream come true! I can still remember the first time I saw Ben Mendelsohn as Krennic in Rogue One, and the sight of that cape just took my breath away. It’s an outrageous choice for a character, but hey, who am I to argue with perfection?

The cape is back! Tell your friends! Tell your family! The cape is back!

In the November issues of Empire Magazine, we were given our initial glimpse of Director Orson Krennic in Andor Season 2. The magazine covers unveiled Genevieve O’Reilly as Mon Mothma, Diego Luna as Cassian Andor, and Ben Mendelsohn reprising his role as Krennic. The issue preview hints at interviews with Diego Luna, Genevieve O’Reilly, showrunner Tony Gilroy, and Denise Gough, who portrays the Imperial character Dedra Meero. This upcoming content promises an exciting anticipation!

It’s been confirmed for quite some time now that Mendelsohn will reprise his role as the beloved antagonist in Season 2. Seeing him again, especially with that outrageous cape, just makes me overjoyed! In pure fan enthusiasm, I can’t wait to see more of that cape-related action.

In the novel “Thrawn: Treason,” Krennic, in an unusual move, assigns Brierly Ronan, his subordinate and assistant director, as well as Grand Admiral Thrawn, to spy on the Chiss. Interestingly, Krennic insists that Ronan wears a cape as part of their uniform, which seems to be a requirement for anyone working under him. Consequently, it’s likely that you’ll spot many capes in episodes focusing on Krennic.

There’s growing excitement that we may see Galen Erso in Season 2, as it’s been announced that Mads Mikkelsen, who portrayed Galen in “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” will attend Star Wars Celebration Japan. Since “Andor” is expected to premiere at Celebration and its release date on Disney+ is mere days after the event, there’s a possibility this could pave the way for a cameo by Galen. Given Krennic and Erso’s interconnected past, it would be thrilling to have Mikkelsen reprise his role.

Andor Season 2 premieres on Disney+ on April 22, 2025.
