Rekkles parts ways with T1, has an offer lined up for 2025

As a long-time follower of Rekkles and League of Legends, I must say his journey has been nothing short of inspiring. From his early successes with Fnatic to his struggles in recent years, it’s clear that he’s a resilient individual who doesn’t shy away from challenges.

Rekkles chose to leave T1 after Worlds 2024 to go back to Sweden.

On November 13th, it was announced that top esports team T1 (formerly known as SK Telecom T1) and Carl Martin Erik “Rekkles” Larsson have chosen to part ways.

11 days following T1’s triumphant fifth win at the League of Legends World Championship, they were victorious against Bilibili Gaming.

Rekkles wasn’t part of the quintet that played in Worlds 2024, as he was a mere substitute for T1.

Since December 2023, Rekkles has been a member of Team 1, and in 2024, he represented their Challenger division on the field. At the end of the year, the organization acknowledged and expressed gratitude for the dedicated service provided by the European player.

Today, T1 and Rekkles have decided to go separate ways amicably, as declared on X. We genuinely appreciate his choice to pursue a fresh chapter in South Korea and commend his dedication during this past year. Rest assured, T1 will remain supportive of his future ventures.

In a lengthy update on platform X, Rekkles disclosed his decision to part ways with the Korean team, as there were unresolved issues he felt compelled to address.

For some time, the European player faced mental challenges due to events like parting ways with Fnatic in 2020, a personal family accident, and learning about being on the autism spectrum. Feeling that he might later regret it, he decided to explore possibilities with T1. However, he also acknowledged that this is the right moment for him to address these concerns.

It seems we’re in agreement that this choice was correct, yet it didn’t resolve the problems I had; instead, it temporarily postponed them. Now, I feel it’s crucial for me to tackle those issues head-on, and to do so, I need to be in Sweden, near my family.

Rekkles on leaving T1

As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled to share that Rekkles is set to return to the European League of Legends scene! While he hasn’t officially revealed his team yet, the news buzzing around is that he’s received an offer for 2025, enabling him to continue his professional journey right from home. Can’t wait to see what’s next!

In the past, Rekkles achieved a significant milestone in the LEC. He accumulated multiple domestic victories with Fnatic from 2014 to 2018 and placed second at Worlds 2018.

In 2020, his move to G2 didn’t work out as planned; by the end of 2021, he was benched by G2 and had to play for Karmine Corp in the French League (LFL) in 2022. Despite a potential comeback with Fnatic appearing promising on paper, the team put him on the bench in April 2023.

Rekkles and his fans sure hope that things will go better in 2025.
