Roxy Jacenko blasts Showpo CEO over her successful fashion company’s working from home rules

Roxy Jacenko blasts Showpo CEO over her successful fashion company's working from home rules

As an ardent follower and admirer of these two powerhouse Australian businesswomen, I find myself deeply invested in their ongoing discourse about the merits of working from home versus in-office collaboration. Roxy Jacenko’s unwavering stance on the importance of a five-day workweek for fostering team cohesion resonates with me, having experienced firsthand the benefits of face-to-face interaction and camaraderie that come with being physically present with colleagues.

Roxy Jacenko has criticized Jane Lu, another business owner, regarding the remote work policies implemented at Showpo.

44-year-old PR leader voiced her disagreement with the CEO’s plan to require staff to come into the office for just two days a week.

On The Lazy CEO Podcast featuring Jane Lu, Roxy underscored her conviction that requiring employees to work in the office for five days a week would promote stronger team collaboration.

As a lifestyle guide, I’d put it this way: “With your dedicated team at hand, consider making them a regular part of your workweek, instead of only seeing them twice a week.

“Effective collaboration can only be achieved by working together as a team, and I must admit that I’m skeptical about remote work.

Jane realized that when her team worked together physically at the Showpo office, there was a greater exchange of ideas among colleagues, as if they were bouncing thoughts and suggestions off each other.

Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, we were all approximately the same age. For five consecutive days, there was an increased sense of collaboration among us. This is what she shared.

‘Everyone just presents ideas to me. There’s no brainstorm.’

Well, it seems like that’s on you since you’re in charge. After all, you’re not there alongside them every day; you only work there for two days a week.” – Roxy joked.

Showpo, an Australian online fashion store, was launched in 2010 by Jane and caters primarily to a youthful female demographic.

The CEO has a net worth of approximately $55million.

In a different part of this conversation, Roxy shared that she put on 18 kg following her move to Singapore in the year 2023 together with her husband Oliver Curtis and their two kids.

Last July, the entrepreneur moved to a Southeast Asian nation, having recently sold their family home in Sydney’s Vaucluse and closed certain businesses of theirs.

She admitted she stacked on the kilos after relocating because of her lifestyle changes.

As a devoted devotee, I must confess that Roxy elucidated her daily routine predominantly revolved around feasting, imbibing, and retail therapy. This lifestyle choice, unfortunately, resulted in a 18-kilogram increase on the scales for her.

Roxy shared that domestic life didn’t suit her. Instead, she found herself constantly shopping with little variation in her routine, describing it as an incredibly dull lifestyle. She made a comeback to public relations in September.

‘I consumed 18kgs of alcohol in a year and realised this is not for me so I got back to work.’

She also discussed the terrifying moment she overdosed on Ozempic in an effort to lose weight.

Roxy disclosed that she had consumed four times the suggested amount prior to experiencing extreme nausea and continuous tremors.

She said, “I invested a lot into it that I had to unbutton my pants whenever I sat in the car because it pulled me right in.

‘I bought it, I tried it. I took four times the amount in the first go.’

Roxy went on to express her frustration with individuals who claim not to use Ozempic. She stated boldly, “On my platform, I speak the truth as it is, and I don’t mince words.

Previously, the PR Queen expressed that she believed she might have experienced a severe reaction when she took a dose of the diabetes medication that was four times stronger than what her physician had prescribed, leading her to fear it could be potentially lethal.
