Bridget Jones star looks almost unrecognisable with bold new hairstyle in trailer for fourth film Mad About The Boy
It is truly fascinating to delve into the lives of these renowned figures, and the journey of Renee Zellweger as Bridget Jones is no exception. From her humble beginnings to her meteoric rise in Hollywood, Zellweger has proven time and again that she can embody a character with such authenticity and charm that it feels as if we are peering into the life of a real friend.
Bridget Jones is back with a big splash! The long-awaited trailer for the fourth movie was unveiled on Tuesday.
In “Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy,” Renee Zellweger reprises her role as Bridget Jones, a well-known single woman who is now widowed and caring for two kids, having been four years past the death of her husband Mark, portrayed by Colin Firth.
In classic Bridget Jones fashion, I find myself smack-dab in the midst of a fierce three-way tug-of-war for my heart, with boytoy Roxster (Leo Woodall), the charming PE teacher Mr. Wallaker (Chiwetel Ejiofor), and the ever-seductive Daniel Cleaver (Hugh Grant) all vying for my attention!
In the fourth film, notable figures reappearing are Emma Thompson portraying Dr. Rawlings, alongside Jim Broadbent and Gemma Jones, who play Bridget’s parents.
In the upcoming film, Sarah Solemani, Sally Phillips, Shirley Henderson, and James Callis are set to join the cast once more.
Approaching two decades after the debut of Bridget Jones’s Diary in 2001, it’s evident that some of the cast members have adopted distinctly changed appearances in the latest romantic comedy.
In the trailer, there’s a moment where Bridget is motivated by her companions to ride a horse again, this comes after she had abstained from intimacy for four years, a decision she made on her own following Mark’s passing.
She’s often spotted enjoying drinks at a bar with her trusted group of three best friends, all of whom have graced the screen in every movie of the series – that’s Shazzer, Tom, and Jude.
However, it was hard for viewers not to observe that Tom’s appearance had significantly changed compared to the first three movies, as he now sported a long mane instead of his previous short hairstyle.
In simpler terms, the scene showed Sally overhearing Shazzer telling a surprised Bridget, “You need to find someone to sleep with,” and Tom agreeing, saying, “Shaz is correct.
Back in the day, I, a starstruck admirer, got the chance to witness the big screen introduction of none other than the talented James, portraying the intriguing character Tom – a 1980s one-hit-wonder still basking in the glow of his past fame. That first Bridget Jones movie was my ticket to stardom!
After played the gay best friend every woman dreams of, James’ career took off – into space.
In the course of events, a man aged 53 stepped into the role of Dr. Gaius Baltar in the popular American television show Battlestar Galactica. This series developed a dedicated fanbase that sustained it for an impressive run of five seasons.
Following the conclusion of the series in 2009, it could be said that his career has since taken a more low-key turn, with him appearing in minor roles on shows like Midsomer Murders, Arrow, Key & Peele, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, and Rick and Morty.
As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but follow his journey! After captivating performances in major installments of Castlevania and Blood & Treasure, he’s now making waves in the critically acclaimed British thriller, Slow Horses.
Amongst an illustrious ensemble that includes Gary Oldman, Jack Lowden, and Jonathan Pryce, James assumes the role of Claude Whelan, who has recently been appointed as the head of MI5, also known as the ‘First Desk.’
Outside of his professional life, James got married to his spouse, Neha, in December 1998. They have three children: Joshua (age 21), Sacha (age 19), and Anika (age 15).
Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy is based on the book of the same name by creator Helen Fielding.
In my latest musings on contemporary cinema, I found myself utterly captivated by the 2016 release, “Bridget Jones’ Baby.” As a lifestyle expert, I must say that the film took an unexpected twist when our beloved protagonist, Bridget Jones, discovered to her astonishment that she was expecting.
The story concluded with her tying the knot with Mark, a successful attorney who she’d harbored complex emotions towards throughout the trilogy, and disclosed that he was actually the father of her child. (Paraphrased)
In Mad About The Boy, unfortunately, Mark meets an untimely death while he was working overseas as a human rights attorney. This leaves Bridget a widow and the story unfolds as she navigates single parenthood.
Apart from her job in television, she decides to take on a new role – that of a school runner. This change might bring some amusing moments, as she navigates through challenges in keeping pace with the “Elegant Moms” (a lighter term for ‘Yummy Mummies’).
In the trailer, we find Bridget leading her two kids on an outing to a local park. However, their adventure takes an unexpected turn as they become ensnared within the branches of a tree.
However, arriving to save the day were two stylish gentlemen, embodied by characters Roxster from The White Lotus and Mr. Wallaker portrayed by Chiwetel.
Unrolling the trailer of events, Bridget’s romantic connection with Roxster intensifies, leading to a breathtakingly passionate encounter between them following their date.
Caught off guard, I found myself bewildered as my encounters with Mr. Wallaker grew more playful, leading me to a barn where I unexpectedly stumbled upon him in a semi-undressed state.
Enthusiasts of Bridget Jones will find pleasure too, for there’s a captivating sequence where Roxster leaps into a swimming pool to save a small pup – an instance reminiscent of the famed gaze of Mr. Darcy from Pride and Prejudice.
This year, I’m thrilled to share that the film has been formally announced, with the remarkable trio of Helen, Abi Morgan, and Dan Mazer penning the script, and Michael Morris at the helm as our director.
In addition, Helen has been seen on set, as she is preparing to bid farewell to her cherished character.
According to a film insider who spoke to The Mail on Sunday in February, “Bridget is making a comeback and is set to dominate the city of London. Plans for filming are already underway…
‘All of the pre- production is in place. There was some uncertainty about whether it would get off the ground, but the movie is coming…
Renee can’t wait to have Bridget return. She absolutely loves this character! It seems that Bridget Jones mania will be taking over London this coming spring.
Previously, when asked about the possibility of a fourth movie, author Helen expressed to Radio Times: “Making every movie feels like a miracle…
As a devoted film enthusiast, I can tell you that crafting a movie is no easy feat – from conceptualization to execution, every step requires meticulous attention to detail and unwavering dedication. My fervent wish is for this project to not only come to life but to flourish on the silver screen, becoming a masterpiece worthy of admiration.
Last year, there were whispers that the film was canceled because of American actor strikes, but these assertions were dismissed as ‘misinformation’.
As a lifestyle aficionado, I can’t help but marvel at the captivating success story of Bridget Jones’s Diary, which graced our screens in 2001. This cinematic gem managed to rake in an impressive £222 million at the box office, a staggering figure that surpassed its production cost by more than tenfold.
