As a long-standing fan of Grey’s Anatomy, I can hardly contain my excitement as the show gears up for its midseason return in 2025! With over two decades of emotional rollercoasters, heart-wrenching goodbyes, and unexpected reunions under my belt, I can confidently say that this medical drama has become an integral part of my life.
Grey’s Anatomy has confirmed its midseason return date in 2025.
ABC has revealed some broadcast dates for the upcoming year, and it’s confirmed that the long-standing medical drama will resume its Season 21 in the second half on Thursday, March 6, airing at 10 p.m.
9-1-1 is set to return for its season 8 midseason premiere in the evening, specifically at 8 pm. Other series making a comeback are The Rookie, airing on January 7 at 10 pm, and Abbott Elementary, which will be on January 8 at 8:30 pm.

As a dedicated viewer, I find myself smack-dab in the heart of the first half of Grey’s Anatomy’s season 21, marking a groundbreaking shift as it now airs at the 10 PM hour, a change that’s unprecedented for this long-running series.
In September, Meg Marinis, our boss, hinted at more “intense scenes” on the show since they’ve moved to a later broadcast time.
She informed The Hollywood Reporter that this is their inaugural season airing at 10 pm. In essence, she’s ready to test limits as much as possible, but she assures that the essence of the show will remain unchanged.
Should we incorporate some more provocative themes or intense moments, we certainly will. However, we won’t compromise our content solely for a specific time slot. After all, we’re ‘Grey’s Anatomy’, and our audience will seek us out regardless of where we are.

Additionally, she hinted at Ellen Pompeo reoccurring in further episodes as Meredith Grey, suggesting: “At the moment, we don’t have a definitive count, and we usually don’t film all episodes at once.
However, let me clarify that her narrative resumes at the start of this new season. We always welcome Ellen here, and whenever possible, we enjoy having her both on set and in our episodes.
She’s constantly part of the series, even when she doesn’t physically appear. Her character is still voiced over, and discussions about her are frequent. We share a strong bond and collaborate effectively together.
Meanwhile, Grey’s recently cast One Tree Hill star Sophia Bush as trauma surgeon Dr Cass Beckman.
In the United States, you can catch season 21 of Grey’s Anatomy every Thursday at 10pm Eastern Time, right here on ABC. If you’re in the UK and want to revisit previous seasons, they are available for streaming on Disney+.
