Hit BBC thriller’s “gripping” return gets exciting update with “phenomenal” OG cast reuniting

After the BBC announced the return of Doctor Foster in February, Suranne Jones, the show’s star, shared a photo of herself with the rest of the main cast, adding to the excitement.

Suranne Jones, Bertie Carvel, and Tom Taylor – the original stars of Doctor Foster – are returning for a third season. The new season will be set ten years after the events of the previous ones. BBC iPlayer announced on Instagram that the cast recently had a read-through of the script and filming will begin this spring.

A recent photo from the BBC reminded fans that the drama of Doctor Foster continues to resonate, even ten years later. Actress Suranne Jones playfully alluded to the show’s complicated storyline in her own post, writing, “Just your average family trying to work through some tough stuff… Nothing to see here!”

The new season begins ten years after Gemma Foster expertly retaliated against her husband, Simon, for an affair. However, her actions had tragic consequences – her fifteen-year-old son, Tom, vanished.

In the third series, Gemma continues working as a doctor and living in her familiar home, but she’s excited to be planning her wedding and starting a new chapter with someone special. However, as the wedding approaches and loved ones come together, old secrets and past issues begin to surface, potentially jeopardizing her happiness and standing in the community.

Gemma is determined to defend her loved ones and uncover who is trying to harm them. But can she overcome her past, get revenge, and build the life she wants before time runs out?
