Mission Impossible 8 Tom Cruise's Ethan Hunt dangles from a glider in new trailer as the title for the long-delayed conclusion is FINALLY revealed

As a lifestyle expert with a penchant for action-packed cinema and a soft spot for Tom Cruise’s daring stunts, I must say that the teaser trailer for Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning has me on the edge of my seat! The series, which began in 1996, has been an integral part of my action-movie-watching journey, and the anticipation for this final installment is unparalleled.

At last, the initial preview for Mission Impossible: The Last Stand is out! After much anticipation, the title of this final installment in the cherished movie franchise was officially unveiled following several months of postponements.

Once again stepping into the shoes of our title character Ethan Hunt, portrayed by Tom Cruise, we find him preparing for what could be his most daunting assignment yet. This comes in the wake of an emotionally charged climax where the covert agent vowed to locate the elusive cyber weapon known as The Entity.

The latest trailer offers viewers a nostalgic look at some memorable scenes from the movie series, where Ethan appeals to his crew for trust one more time.

A voice narrates: ‘Everything you were, everything you’ve done, has come to this.

If unwavering certainty is required and the chances are considered extremely unlikely, it’s his task to take on, if he decides to do so.

The preview offers glimpses of Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg and Vanessa Kirby, while Esai Morales returns as the villainous Gabriel.

In his quest to uncover the enigmatic Entity, Ethan encounters some of his most challenging stunts so far, such as hanging from an old World War II aircraft.

For the very first time, Tom personally unveiled the movie’s name on Instagram on a Monday. He posted an image of the movie poster with the caption: ‘Each decision has brought us here.’

The film, which has faced multiple delays, is finally due to hit cinemas on May 23 2025.

Filming for the eighth part of the Mission Impossible series, set in the UK, occurred from March through December 2022.

Initially, work on the eighth movie was paused for the actors to publicize Part One, but this break was extended due to a SAG-AFTRA strike which added more complications.

Production restarted soon after, but was suspended in July due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strikes.

2024 saw me, the die-hard fanatic, rejoicing as filming recommenced in March. Yet, my heart skipped a beat when, come May, production once more ground to a halt – rumors swirling about a malfunctioning gimbal, that precious piece of equipment essential to capturing the magic on camera.

Earlier reports indicated that the actor from Minority Report was acquiring skills to pilot a World War II aircraft for the upcoming eighth part of the action series.

According to a source, Tom began learning how to pilot a vintage Boeing Stearman biplane a few months ago, as part of an exciting aerial sequence for the upcoming Mission: Impossible 8 movie.

It’s clearly a challenging task that requires great skill, but, just as expected, he doesn’t intend to take any shortcuts or enlist the help of an assistant.

The source added, “We’ve completed filming for Mission: Impossible 7, but Tom hasn’t taken a moment’s rest yet. Moreover, shooting breath-taking sequences involving an 80-year-old aircraft can be quite risky.

Initially, it was planned for Mission Impossible 8 to be simultaneously produced with Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, the latter of which grossed more than half a billion dollars at the box office.

Due to the strikes, MI:8 was delayed; it won’t be showing for audiences until May 23, 2025, which was originally planned as its summer release date.

Apart from Tom, it’s also confirmed that Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Hayley Atwell, Pom Klementieff, and Vanessa Kirby will reappear in the eighth Mission Impossible movie.

As a die-hard fan, I fervently pray that this time, the actor won’t find himself in a desperate plea to persuade studio executives for an extended run of the movie.

As the seventh movie graced the silver screen, I found myself grappling with the fear that my performance in the title role might eclipse the film itself, given our shared demand for a limited number of screens to showcase our artistry effectively.

In contrast to past movies in the series, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One didn’t meet expectations at the ticket counter, even with Tom’s efforts aimed at prolonging its success.

It turned out he was correct, as Oppenheimer’s film grossed approximately $400 million more than Mission: Impossible at the box office.

The Mission: Impossible movie franchise kicked off in 1996, drawing inspiration from a TV show of the same title that debuted in 1966.
