As a long-time fan of the Metal Gear Solid series, it is heartening to see Konami making strides to introduce this iconic franchise to a new generation of gamers. Growing up with Solid Snake and his epic adventures was a significant part of my gaming journey, and I can’t help but feel nostalgia as I revisit these games through the Master Collection.
One reason Konami gave for their decision to re-create Metal Gear Solid 3 and launch the latest Master Collection is because many young gamers aren’t acquainted with the game series.
During a chat with Play Magazine, as reported by GamesRadar, series producer Noriaki Okamura expressed that the newer generation seems to be less familiar with Metal Gear.
Okamura mentioned that one reason for the remake was realizing that many modern, younger gamers are no longer familiar with the Metal Gear series, so we wanted to refresh it.
As a dedicated gamer, carrying forward the legacy of this epic series has been not just a goal, but a personal responsibility for me. Just like Solid Snake once said, we’re not just passing down our DNA; we’re ensuring stories and experiences live on for generations to come. But who is Solid Snake? Well, he’s a legendary character from the game I’m so passionate about!
It’s a good point, and actually it does explain the pretty vanilla state of the first volume of the Master Collection. It had very basic versions of the games, scarcely more than ports of the HD Collection, from 2011.
And it also had a port of the first Metal Gear Solid, with – again – very basic emulation and hardly any bells and whistles. Perhaps Konami was simply interested in getting these games playable on modern machines for posterity’s sake. Check out our review here.
