As I delve into the tumultuous and poignant lives of the Carey family, it is impossible not to be moved by their heartrending struggles and complex relationships. It is evident that Mariah Carey, with her extraordinary talent and success, has had an equally extraordinary upbringing. Her memoir, The Meaning Of Mariah Carey, paints a vivid picture of a life filled with love, loss, and resilience.

Reports indicate that Mariah Carey may soon face questioning regarding allegations that her former brother was involved in drug sales. This comes only a few weeks after she experienced the tragic loss of both her mother and sister on the same day.

Reports indicate that the singer, who is now 55 years old, may be questioned by lawyers following claims in her memoir that her brother Morgan was involved in drug sales.

According to the court documents, it has been reported that she will testify while being recorded on video on January 17, at Morgan’s legal team’s office.

In the year 2021, the 64-year-old initiated a legal action against her, alleging defamation. This was in relation to “The Meaning of Mariah Carey” where he was referred to as her ‘former brother.’

The judge mandated that the siblings must undergo depositions for his case by January 31, 2025. This order was submitted on August 27, following the deaths of their mother Patricia (aged 87) and sister Alison (aged 63), which occurred three days prior.

According to The Sun, the chart topper will be questioned under oath in New York.

Mariah and Morgan haven’t spoken since 1994 when they had an argument.

In her memoir, the woman described the hardships of her upbringing, revealing that her brother had mistreated her and dealt drugs, specifically cocaine.

In 2021, Morgan chose to file a lawsuit against his sister, asserting that he refuted the accusations and counter-accused her of damaging his reputation through what he considered false statements.

In my memoir, I recount an intense confrontation between my brother and father that required no less than twelve officers to intervene. Their massive frames intertwined, resembling a tempestuous whirlwind, violently erupted into our living room, resonating with deafening impacts.

As a young child, I had limited recollections of an older brother who typically acted as my guardian. However, it was more frequent for me to feel the need to shield myself from his actions, and on certain occasions, I even found myself safeguarding my mom from him as well.

She added in another passage: ‘Suddenly there was a loud, sharp noise, like an actual gunshot.

In a powerful shove, my sibling sent our mom crashing hard against the wall, causing a loud, resounding crash.

Mariah also wrote that her mother had told her Morgan was dealing drugs, including cocaine.

The lawsuit also references another paragraph where Mariah alleges that Morgan ‘discreetly supplied the beautiful people with their powdered party favors’ when he worked in a nightclub in the late 1980s.

His lawyers said this is ‘reasonably understood as a reference to cocaine.’

Morgan denied the violent incidents ever happened or that he sold drugs.

He initiated the lawsuit, expressing a sense of regret and disillusionment due to his sister’s deceitful actions and harmful untruths, rather than out of anger.

In 2022, the judge dismissed the majority of the case, yet permitted two aspects to carry on, which encompassed accusations that he was a narcotics vendor and insinuations that he previously served time in jail.

The singer asserted that her statement was completely true, expressed in her unique writing manner, indicating that the rumors about drug dealing were widely known among their inner circle during that period.

In August, the singer announced announced that her mother and sister had died.

She shared with the public: “I’m devastated because I’ve just lost my mother over the weekend. Regrettably, it was a double tragedy as my sister also passed away on the very same day.

‘I feel blessed that I was able to spend the last week with my mom before she passed.

‘I appreciate everyone’s love and support and respect for my privacy during this impossible time.’

Over the years, my passion for the lives of certain individuals has led me down an emotional path, and none more so than Mariah’s story. You see, she had a tumultuous relationship with her mother and sister that left its mark on her life. To make matters even more complicated, Alison, a woman battling addiction, and I were estranged for three long decades. That is, until the unfortunate day when she passed away, after which we never got to reconcile.

Patricia was wedded to Alfred Roy Carey, Mariah’s dad, who was of Afro-Venezuelan descent, up until she turned three. Sadly, Alfred passed away at the age of 72 in the year 2002.

Her parents’ interracial marriage upset her mother’s side of the family and they later divorced.

Apart from battling substance addiction, Alison experienced homelessness and lived with HIV throughout her life.

In 2016, Alison earnestly appealed to her well-known sibling through DailyMail.com, asking for reconciliation and support to improve her condition, expressing: “Mariah, I deeply care for you, I urgently require your assistance.

Due to the aftermath of a traumatic home invasion, which resulted in brain damage and severe illness, she found herself requiring substantial financial aid to help her recover. She’d been frequently admitted to hospitals for treatment.

In addition to Mariah and Alison, Patricia and Roy also had a son Morgan, now 64.

Julliard-educated Patricia was an opera singer and vocal coach.

In her 2020 memoir, “The Meaning of Mariah Carey,” Mariah shared insights into the complex dynamics she has had with her mother and sister regarding their relationships.

She shared that her relationship with her mother, much like various parts of her life, has been marked by complexities and contrasting truths. It hasn’t solely been about shades of black and white; instead, it’s encompassed the entire spectrum of emotions.
