2021 has been an extraordinary year for “Mobile Legends: Bang Bang,” marked by numerous collaborations such as MLBB with ESIC, SEF, Qiddiya, and others, all aimed at enhancing the mobile esports environment and taking Mobile Legends esports to greater heights. The developer, MOONTON Games, is truly blazing a trail, and we must applaud their efforts. MLBB is selected as the exclusive women’s esports title for AEG 2024

MOONTON Games has declared that Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) will be the sole esports game for the women’s tournament at the AEG. This news is fantastic because it will boost local competitions and promote inclusivity within both the mobile esports community and MLBB esports scene. The event, organized by the Thailand Esports Federation (TESF), is endorsed by the Asian Electronic Sports Federation (AESF).

As a passionate fan, I’m excited to be part of this historic moment at the 2021 Asian Esports Games. The participation of 20 regions in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang women’s tournament underscores the Asian Esports Federation (AESF) and the Tencent Esports Federation’s (TESF) unwavering dedication to fostering diversity and creating a globally competitive, inclusive environment. It’s truly inspiring to see more countries supporting women’s esports, enabling our community to keep pushing boundaries!

Ray Ng, Head of Esports Ecosystem at MOONTON Games

20 women’s eSports teams from various regions – Southeast Asia, South Asia, Central Asia, and the Middle East – will take part in this thrilling competition. You’ll have the opportunity to see newcomers such as Mongolia, Tajikistan, and Nepal, along with established forces like Thailand, Indonesia, China, and the Philippines.

I’m strongly supporting Nepal since they are the representatives of South Asia. Not too long ago, a men’s esports team from Nepal called Trained To Kill (T2K) participated in the MLBB MSC 2024 and displayed an outstanding performance, given that it was their first time competing.

Regional inclusivity takes the spotlight at the upcoming AEG 2024

This success significantly benefits everyone, starting from underrepresented areas being given a platform to demonstrate their abilities, up to those who will later receive similar chances. It also represents substantial advancement for women aiming to join Esports, as female teams are now receiving the attention and opportunity to exhibit their talents on an international stage in this predominantly male-oriented esports world.

I’m really looking forward to the possibility that Mobile Legends Bang Bang (MLBB) resuming operations in India might lead to Indian teams competing in top-tier tournaments one day. It has recently reappeared as Moba Legends 5v5 on the App Store, following its six-month stint in India since its Android launch.

If you’re thinking about tuning into the tournament, consider checking out the Indonesian national team, which predominantly features players from Team Vitality. They suffered a setback after their 24-game winning streak was broken by Smart Omega Empress, a Filipino squad, during the MWI 2024 Grand Finals. There’s a possibility of a rematch between these two teams as Smart Omega Empress is anticipated to participate in the AEG 2024 as well.
