As a dedicated fan of Daisy Ridley’s remarkable acting journey, I am absolutely thrilled that her latest masterpiece, “Magpie,” is now available for UK viewers to enjoy from the comfort of our homes! This gripping thriller, under the skillful direction of Sam Yates, showcases Ridley’s versatility as she delves into the complexities of a loveless marriage and the destructive allure of obsession.
Daisy Ridley’s new movie Magpie is now available to watch at home for UK viewers.
In this gripping drama, directed by Sam Yates, the well-known Star Wars actor takes on the role of a woman trapped in an unloving marriage, as her spouse develops an obsession with a renowned film celebrity.
Starting today, November 11th, the movie that had its US cinema premiere on October 25th is now available digitally for you to rent or purchase. You can find it on platforms like Amazon, iTunes, and various other digital retailers.

Initially, the concept for the movie was thought up by Daisy Ridley herself. Later on, it was turned into a screenplay by Tom Bateman.
The story starts by showing the strained marriage between stay-at-home mum Anette (Ridley) and author Ben (played by Star Trek: Discovery‘s Shazad Latif). When their daughter is cast in a film production, Ben takes it upon himself to be her guardian on set.
As a gamer, I don’t engage with fans or cast members for parental duties, but rather, it’s my strategy to connect with Alicia, the captivating actress from “Revenge” who plays my character’s on-screen mom.
In response to Ben’s growing obsession towards Alicia and Alicia appearing receptive to his affection, Anette decides to investigate her partner’s hidden truths.

The Magpie movie received an impressive 79% rating on Rotten Tomatoes following its premiere, primarily due to the exceptional acting by director Ridley.
Besides being lauded by critics, the British thespian has also earned accolades for his latest performances such as “Contemplating Death” and the Disney+ sport-centric biopic, “Girl and the Ocean.
In a candid conversation with Digital Spy, Ridley discussed the difficulties involved in depicting the true-life American Olympian Gertrude ‘Trudy’ Ederle on screen, as part of this process required extensive training for months in open-water swimming.
She commented, “It provided a slight glimpse into what she must have experienced.” Moreover, though I am far from her accomplishments, it significantly increased my admiration for the daunting and frightening nature of the task, and the resolute determination she likely had to see it through.
Magpie is now available to rent or buy on Amazon, iTunes and other digital retailers.
