Helen Flanagan says she was threatened with the police by a ‘horrible’ Travelodge employee after sleeping through her check out time

Helen Flanagan publicly complained about Travelodge on Instagram, saying a staff member threatened to call the police after she overslept and missed her check-out time.

The 35-year-old actress, who used to be on Coronation Street, is now touring with a stage show. She’s playing Princess Jill in the Easter pantomime of Mother Goose.

I was so excited when the tour came to Mansfield on Monday night! It was a fantastic show, and afterwards, I followed the cast and crew as they headed to Northampton. They were staying at a Travelodge to prepare for their Tuesday performance there, and I couldn’t wait to see it again!

But Helen took to her Instagram on Tuesday afternoon to complain about her interrupted lie in.

Helen posted a video taken outside a Travelodge in Northampton, tagging the hotel chain and describing a negative experience. She wrote ‘she was so horrible’ and then explained to her followers that their theatre tour was taking them to various Travelodge hotels, adding, ‘It’s been okay so far.’

I was woken up this morning feeling unwell – I’m expecting my period and haven’t been sleeping well. I went to bed around 1:30 AM and was woken up at 12:00 PM by someone banging on my door, demanding I open it.

Helen explained that when she arrived, the woman told her checkout wasn’t until noon. Helen apologized for not knowing, saying she just wanted to quickly shower and leave. But the woman refused to let her shower and demanded she leave immediately, threatening to call the police.

You know, I was just watching a video of Helen, and she shared something really relatable. She was getting emotional, and explained that her friend Matt Wright actually came to help her out. But the tears weren’t from anything dramatic – she confessed she’s right around her time of the month, and honestly, being away from her kids just hit her hard. It’s a good reminder that even in tough situations, it’s okay to be vulnerable and admit those little things that get to us all!

I just want a little consideration. It’s frustrating to be woken up when I’m trying to sleep in, then told to leave and not even allowed to take a shower.

She was upset to discover there were no showers at the theatre, and later said the situation didn’t improve from there.

A Travelodge representative said they were sorry to learn Helen wasn’t happy with her visit. They’ve contacted her personally and are investigating the situation with the hotel staff to find out what went wrong.

Helen is currently very busy with multiple projects. She’s touring with a pantomime, raising her children, and also promoting her upcoming TV show, Celebrity Ex On The Beach.

The actress is now part of the cast of a new reality show on Paramount+, joining stars like Dani Imbert from TOWIE, John Grimes of the Jedward twins, and Toby Aromolaran from Love Island.

On the dramatic new dating show, set in Tenerife, Helen is set to reconnect with people from her past – and that includes some of her ex-boyfriends, like maybe even her former fiancé, Scott Sinclair, or boxer David Haye.

Helen’s 13-year relationship with Scott, with whom she shares three children, ended in 2022.

In her recent autobiography, Head & Heart, she revealed she had fallen deeply in love with former world champion David, though their relationship was challenging.

Helen, who previously looked for love on the show Celebs Go Dating, is trying again. She’s hoping to find a partner who is also a public figure, as she worries about being exploited in a relationship with someone outside of the spotlight.

This season of the show will include reality TV stars Amy Kenyon from Married At First Sight UK (age 28) and Freddie Powell from Love Is Blind (age 32). Comedian Daisy May Cooper is joining as the new voiceover artist.
