As a longtime fan of the NCIS franchise, I couldn’t be more thrilled about the renewal of NCIS: Origins for a full season! Growing up with Mark Harmon’s iconic Leroy Jethro Gibbs, it’s fascinating to see his origins unfold. The young cast is absolutely captivating, especially Austin Stowell who perfectly embodies the essence of our beloved character.
NCIS spin-off NCIS: Origins has had its future confirmed.
Originally, the spin-off series featuring a younger portrayal of Mark Harmon’s character Leroy Jethro Gibbs was commissioned for 13 episodes (out of which 5 have been broadcasted so far) – however, additional episodes are now being added to its production.
The official Instagram account announced that #NCISOrigins has been renewed for an entire new season, so be prepared to join us again in the bullpen! We’ll catch up with everyone next on CBS Monday, back at Camp Pendleton.

On American broadcast networks, a typical full season has historically consisted of 22 to 24 episodes; however, this number has become more flexible in recent times. Regarding NCIS: Origins, it appears that the upcoming season will include 18 episodes.
In the first episode, Harmon supplies the voiceover and makes a short appearance, but it’s Austin Stowell who takes on the role of the younger Gibbs. Meanwhile, Diany Rodriguez portrays a young Vera Strickland, and Kyle Schmid has been chosen to play Mike Franks.
In a recent interview, Harmon heaped praise upon Stowell, stating that he knew the actor was right for the role as soon as he walked into the audition.

According to Harmon, there was a slight tremor as Austin entered the room, prior to uttering any words. In other words, he remarked that Austin’s arrival caused a subtle vibration, before speaking.
In that setting, fierce rivalry was present. Many talented individuals graced the scene. However, I would argue that very few managed to captivate Austin’s level of attention. This observation applies to any character cast for this series, as they seemed to follow each other in quick succession. We were fortunate to secure everyone we desired.
In the United States, you can catch NCIS on CBS every Monday night. For viewers in the UK, seasons 1-20 of NCIS are available for streaming on Disney+.
