Gary Barlow playfully pokes fun at son Daniel’s size during a workout in resurfaced clip – after the medical student’s impressive height made him a viral sensation
As a keen observer of human experiences, I find Gary Barlow’s life story to be both inspiring and poignant. His journey from a struggling musician to a renowned pop icon is a testament to his resilience and determination. Yet, it’s not just his professional success that captures my attention; it’s the way he navigates through life’s challenges that truly resonates with me.
Gary Barlow laughed it off once more when his son Daniel, at 24, towered over him yet again, causing quite a stir online due to his remarkable height.
Despite generally preferring privacy regarding his personal affairs, the 53-year-old member of Take That shared a family picture on Instagram, which sparked a wave of affectionate tweets.
In a re-emerged video from 2019, it’s clear that Gary jokingly commented on their height disparity during a workout session with his son, who Gary has disclosed chose academic pursuits in medicine over show business.
Daniel worked out without a shirt on, and they both lifted weights. Meanwhile, Gary, who stands slightly below average at 5’7, jokingly claimed he had moved aside from his tall 6’2″ son and their heavy weights to minimize the difference in their sizes.
Posting on Facebook, I excitedly shared: “I can’t get enough of those precious moments with my kids! Check out this short clip where Dan and I bonded over a Father-Son workout routine. I couldn’t be prouder of my son’s dedication to his fitness journey.
Disregard the weight disparity, I’ve moved slightly forward intentionally to minimize the size discrepancy, just laughing it off.
Initially, the artist posted a family photo on social media that gained widespread popularity around Father’s Day in June. He mentioned then that such family photos were seldom seen from him.
The snap showed Gary, his son Daniel, and youngest daughter Daisy, 15, with his wife of 25 years Dawn Andrews, during a recent holiday.
In the caption, Gary playfully expressed permission on Father’s Day to share family photos, saying: ‘Isn’t it okay for me to post pictures of the family today, hey???’
As someone devotedly following the successful music career of this renowned artist, I find myself humbled by reports suggesting he’s amassed an astounding £90 million fortune. Yet, when I gaze upon a heartwarming image where we see him standing alongside his son, I can barely reach above his tiny shoulders – a gentle reminder that wealth and stature in the music industry do not define my admiration for this remarkable man.
Following the reemergence of the image on platform X this past week, a playful tweet showcasing it garnered over six million views.
Memes have since flooded the internet with jokes about Daniel’s height – but in reality, he is only a few inches taller than the average British man.
In the United Kingdom, the typical male stands around 5 feet 9 inches tall, while women average about 5 feet 3 inches. However, Daniel towers over that, standing a striking 6 feet 2 inches. Yet, when compared to his father who is relatively shorter, he appears even taller.
The father-and-son duo had their arms around each other in the picture, posted shortly after Barlow celebrated his son’s achievement completing the Ironman competition, which saw him tackle a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride, and 26.2 mile run.
He wrote: ‘We just couldn’t be prouder of our boy – unbelievable amounts of training and determination – when you put in the work you get the results. Congratulations #ironman.’
But the photo went viral, with many commenting ‘Gary Barhigh’ below.
In a playful comparison, some memes depict a character who feels out of place, much like Buddy in the classic Christmas film Elf, finding it challenging to adjust due to his oversized presence amidst a world that’s too small for him.
As a lifestyle enthusiast, I might rephrase it like this: “Peeking into the world of social media humor, here’s a miniature representation of the phone screen where ‘Gary Barlow’s son’ is presumably scrolling through memes that have popped up about him on Twitter.
It was held in a hand which looks huge in comparison.
‘Take That singer Gary Barlow is seen reaching out for a hug from his son before going to sleep, as captured in this heartwarming backstage moment.’
People shared pictures of the celebrity, Gary Barlow, posing with what appeared to be his son’s cardigan, positioned against a background that seemed to be a checkered wall. The captions read: ‘Gary Barlow in front of his son’s recently acquired sweater.’
Gary has three kids with his spouse Dawn, a backup dancer who toured with Take That back in 1995 and who he tied the knot with in 2000.
Earlier, the music sensation expressed that his kids exhibit distinct personalities compared to himself and seem uninterested in the entertainment industry. Instead, they’ve chosen paths focused on academia.
He shared with The Mirror that his eldest children, Daniel and Emily, have taken an interest in medicine and physiology, specifically focusing on physical strength and conditioning. His youngest child, Daisy, seems undecided about her future path, but she is certainly a diligent student… unlike myself and my spouse.
I believe they won’t continue my path in the music industry, but I wouldn’t have dissuaded them had they shown interest. If they wanted to, it would have been fine by me because it has proven to be profitable for me.
Each day, I continue to find joy in my work, and recognizing that I earn a living from it only enhances that joy. There’s no doubt that many aspects of the entertainment industry are truly wonderful, and I believe there are far more challenging worlds out there compared to the one I currently inhabit.
Previously, the artist known for hits like “Shine” expressed feelings of pride when Emily made the decision to enroll at university in 2022 for a four-year program.
Originally, the teenager intended to enroll in college in 2020, but her plans were disrupted due to Covid-19.
At that point, he shared with Zoe Ball on her BBC radio program: “They’re quite capable, one is in college. The other is taking a break, initially intended for university, but has chosen not to with everything happening, which I wholeheartedly empathize with.
‘At eleven years old, our youngest isn’t quite a kid any longer, but they still remain children in our eyes.’
In 2012, the Barlows tragically experienced the stillbirth of their daughter Poppy, and they have not yet found complete healing or acceptance in dealing with this loss.
On The Imperfects podcast, the artist opened up frankly about his personal struggle related to his family tragedy, stating that he doesn’t delve deeply into the topic because he is still working through some aspects of it.
In contrast to my own feelings, my wife’s emotions were quite distinct. I’ve harbored anger over this for quite some time now, and I must admit, I haven’t fully reconciled with the situation just yet.
