Is Hondo Ohnaka in Skeleton Crew?

As a lifelong Star Wars enthusiast, I can’t help but feel a thrill running through my veins with every new tidbit about “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew“. And the latest? The possible appearance of everyone’s favorite pirate, Hondo Ohnaka!

We’re nearly reaching the release of “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew“, and with that, the excitement is building. Following the unveiling of the full trailer, there was one scene in particular that sparked curiosity among fans, leaving us to ponder if a beloved Star Wars character might reappear.

In one shot of the trailer, user Nick Tierce pointed out on his Twitter account that a ship in the background looked like the vessel of Hondo Ohnaka. The Katooni can be seen at Disney’s Galaxy’s Edge for the ride Smugglers Run, which Nick compared the ship in the trailer to.

Previously on this platform, it was suggested that Hondo would make an excellent addition to the cast of “Skeleton Crew”. Therefore, learning about potential character named Katooni is thrilling. They might emulate “The Book of Boba Fett’s” approach by having Corey Burton reprise his role as Bane’s voice and Dorian Kingi perform Bane’s physicality. Jim Cumming could lend his voice to Hondo, while an actor plays him in real life, an idea we previously explored here.

Hondo could perfectly suit the role in “Skeleton Crew”! From “The Clone Wars” to “Star Wars Rebels”, it was the impact of children that shaped his character development. Initially, he appeared as a merciless yet entertaining pirate. A common oversight is the Jedi Youngling arc from Season 5 of “The Clone Wars,” where Hondo expressed a desire to kill younglings for their lightsabers. However, thanks to their influence, particularly from Katooni, whose ship his vessel was later named after, Hondo underwent a significant transformation. He became more inclined to confront and swindle villains like the Empire. His bond with Ezra Bridger is crucial in “Rebels”. We are also aware that he exists during the time period of “Skeleton Crew” due to Galaxy’s Edge, which is established within the Mandoverse timeline.

Truthfully, this miniature depiction of his ship might be as close as we’ll come to seeing Hondo in the series. It’s a subtle hint that he’s still part of the picture. It’s exciting to imagine such a cherished character transitioning into live action, but we’ll have to wait and find out!

Skeleton Crew arrives on Disney+ on December 3.
