Joseph Duggar’s wife Kendra tells him his family is ‘disappointed’ but still ‘love him’ in jail call… amid molestation charges

Kendra Duggar recently had a surprisingly positive conversation with her husband, Joseph, letting him know that family members had a range of reactions following his arrest related to a molestation charge.

TMZ published audio from a phone call between a couple recorded last Thursday at the Washington County Jail in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Following his arrest related to accusations of sexually touching a nine-year-old girl during a 2020 Florida vacation, 27-year-old Kendra told 31-year-old Joseph, ‘Remember, people care about you, even if they’re upset.’

She simply stated that things couldn’t be changed, and he replied that he understood her sadness about it.

Oh my gosh, it was just… everything! Kendra totally calmed him down, telling him that his family loves him, and he was like, ‘Yeah, I know, I feel it!’ He was so quick to add he wasn’t even bothered, which, honestly, just made me love him more. It was the sweetest thing ever!

The Daily Mail has contacted the Duggar family’s representatives for a response to this story.

During the conversation, Kendra mentioned the deeply religious Baptist family’s faith as a source of strength and support for her and her partner during difficult times.

‘God is gonna get us through this one day at a time,’ Kendra said.

Oh, it just breaks my heart hearing Kendra talk about how much she misses her husband. Four kids and now he’s gone… she just hinted at how empty the house feels without him, and honestly, it’s devastating. You can just feel her pain, knowing he’s locked up and she’s holding everything together for their children. It’s so unfair!

Oh my gosh, just hearing her say it… it completely floors me! Every time I even think about that staircase, I just… dissolve. It’s too much! She said they’re trying to get through things slowly, just focusing on today, on this moment, and honestly? I’m desperately trying to do the same. I really, really hope I can.

Following news that Joseph Duggar had posted a $600,000 bond and was traveling from Florida back to Arkansas, audio related to the case was released, as reported by the Associated Press.

Judge Brantley Clark has ordered Josh Duggar to avoid being alone with anyone under 18. He is scheduled to return to court on April 20th.

On Tuesday morning, Duggar went to court and asked for a trial by jury. His attorney, Albert Sauline, stated, according to the Associated Press, that their main priority is to ensure Duggar receives a fair trial.

On Tuesday, Duggar appeared to smirk in a recently released mug shot. This is the second mug shot taken of him since an accuser, who was a minor at the time, shared disturbing details of alleged abuse with a detective, resulting in his arrest.

As a longtime follower of this case, I just learned that Jim Bob Duggar officially entered a plea of not guilty to all the charges against him. Apparently, he did this in writing a couple of days before he was scheduled to appear in court. He also skipped the formal reading of the charges and is requesting a trial by jury – all handled through his lawyer, of course.

Earlier this month, Joseph’s wife, Kendra, was arrested in Tontitown and charged with four counts each of putting a child in danger and unlawfully restricting a child’s freedom. Joseph is now facing the exact same charges.

Kendra was released on bail approximately 90 minutes after being booked, and Joseph agreed to be sent to Florida to face charges, the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported.

According to a sworn statement obtained by the Daily Mail, the 14-year-old accusing Joseph claims she experienced multiple instances of sexual abuse when she was nine years old during a family trip to Panama City Beach, Florida.

According to a sworn statement by Bay County Deputy Sheriff Darrell Norris, she shared these details during a formal interview with a Tontitown Police detective.

When Joseph and Kendra took their Florida vacation, they already had two children, and Kendra was expecting their third.

According to a detective’s affidavit, Joseph’s accuser stated that while they were on vacation in Florida, she would sit on his lap, and he would hold her close with his arms.

According to the girl’s statement in the legal documents, Joseph acted differently as the holiday went on.

According to the sworn statement, Joseph asked her to sit next to him on the couch, and then he reportedly covered them both with a blanket.

According to the document, after restraining the victim, the defendant would lift their dress and touch their thighs.

The accuser claimed that during these events, Joseph’s hand brushed against her vaginal area and was sometimes outside of her underwear. She stated this happened multiple times, leaving her feeling confused and uncomfortable.

Okay, so get this – apparently, after everything, he finally went to her and apologized. Like, actually said he was sorry for what he did! And, unbelievably, that’s when it all just…stopped. Can you believe it? It’s like the apology was some kind of magic switch. I’ve read the documents so many times, and it still blows my mind that a simple apology could end it all. It’s just… incredible.

Following the girl’s interview with the Arkansas detective, Florida Deputy Sheriff Darrell Norris – the officer who prepared the legal document – asked them to contact Joseph, hoping to get him to confess.

According to the sworn statement, Joseph confessed during the phone call that he touched the victim through her clothes and acknowledged his motives were inappropriate.

After a judge reviewed evidence – including details from a phone conversation – authorities issued an arrest warrant to the Bay County Sheriff’s Office in Florida.

The Bay County Sheriff’s Office seems to have forwarded the arrest warrant to Arkansas authorities, which resulted in Joseph being arrested in Tontitown.

Last week, Joseph was arrested in Lynn Haven, Florida, following allegations of sexual misconduct involving a minor, according to the Bay County Sheriff’s Office.

A Tontitown, Arkansas police officer contacted the Benton County Sheriff’s Office about a report of past sexual abuse. According to police, a 14-year-old girl told authorities about inappropriate incidents involving Duggar that allegedly happened around five years ago.

Police reported that the incidents supposedly happened in 2020, when the victim was nine years old and vacationing with her family in Panama City Beach, Florida.

The former star of 19 Kids And Counting is now accused of four counts each of putting a child in danger and illegally restricting a child’s freedom, according to the Tontitown Police Department. TMZ first reported the new charges.

Sources say the new legal issues facing Duggar and Kendra in Arkansas are separate from his existing case in Florida.

It’s been tough seeing the news about the arrest, and family members are finally starting to speak out. Sadly, even within this difficult time, we’re dealing with existing family issues – like my brother Josh, who is currently serving a 12-year sentence for a very serious crime involving child pornography. It adds another layer of pain to an already heartbreaking situation.

His attorney told the Daily Mail: ‘Josh understands the stigma of being accused.

He’s deeply affected by the devastating impact false accusations can have on someone’s life. He also knows how easily a person can be targeted and misrepresented in the media, turning facts into exaggerated stories.

The lawyer stated the brothers don’t talk often, but Josh is hoping for the best for his brother and is praying for him during this challenging period.

His sister, Jill, also shared her thoughts in a post on the family blog she co-manages with her husband, Derick Dillard.

We were surprised to hear about the arrest of Jill’s brother, Joseph Duggar, last night, according to a message we received.

We found out about the charges against him yesterday when a friend sent us a text message about news reports of Joseph’s arrest. These reports said he confessed to sexually assaulting a young girl in 2020.

‘We are shocked and heartbroken.’

We firmly denounce all forms of abuse and stand behind the legal process, hoping for a just outcome.

‘Our hearts go out to the innocent juvenile victim of this unspeakable crime and her family.

We’re praying for her strength, comfort, and hope, and that she receives all the support she needs during this difficult time.

Jill and Derick sent their love and prayers to Kendra and her four children, hoping they feel supported and loved as they cope with this difficult time and grieve their loss.

Amy Duggar, his cousin, has also spoken out about the arrest, saying she was both shocked and, unfortunately, not entirely surprised.

In a statement released Friday to People magazine, she expressed feeling deeply disturbed, saddened, and furious regarding the recent accusations against her cousin, Joseph Duggar.

Amy said her immediate concern was for the young victim, who should have been safe, cared for, and surrounded by trustworthy people.

It took incredible courage for her to speak up, particularly after keeping this burden to herself for so long. Her bravery is truly deserving of recognition.

I was really heartbroken to hear about the allegations, but honestly, Amy hit the nail on the head. She said she wasn’t shocked that yet another abuser has come forward, and it just proves how deeply messed up the whole system is. It’s devastating, but sadly, not surprising.

Amy shared that she’s made a conscious effort to change patterns of behavior in her family, both close and extended.

As someone who often thinks about how we support each other through difficult times, my heart goes out to the person reportedly harmed. But it’s so important to remember we don’t have all the facts yet. That’s why I’m also sending my thoughts and prayers to Joseph’s wife, Kendra, as she navigates this incredibly challenging situation, and especially for their children’s well-being and safety. It’s about holding space for everyone involved with compassion.

I hope people will truly see what’s happening, and more than anything, I pray that those responsible will face complete and fair consequences.
