Ginny & Georgia star Felix Mallard to lead upcoming creature feature Nest

As a longtime fan who has followed Felix Mallard’s impressive career trajectory from his days on Neighbours to his breakout role in Ginny & Georgia, I am beyond thrilled to see him stepping into a whole new realm with the upcoming creature feature, Nest. The thought of this talented Aussie actor battling it out against a giant female spider is both terrifying and exhilarating!

Actor Felix Mallard, famous for his standout performance as Marcus Baker in “Ginny & Georgia,” will take on a more ominous and exhilarating part. He is slated to headline an impending creature film titled “Nest.” Brace yourself for a rollercoaster ride as the performer dives into a harrowing home invasion tale, where the danger doesn’t stem from humans but instead from a colossal female spider!

For the first time, Mallard is taking on a horror-like role for an upcoming project. Previously, he’s appeared in shows like Ginny & Georgia, Neighbours, Happy Together, Locke & Key, Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, and played Roamer in Netflix’s teen romantic drama All the Bright Places. He also starred in the romantic drama film Turtles All the Way Down, produced by Max.

As Guy Edmonds, the creative mind behind the hit Australian kids’ show “Hardball,” I’m taking on a double role – scriptwriter and director – for this upcoming movie. This will be my first time stepping into the director’s chair for a feature film. Exciting stuff! Joe Weatherstone has joined us as an executive producer, while Melissa Kelly and Bethany Jones are producing. Notably, Bethany and script consultant Daina Reid have been instrumental in helping me shape the script. Here’s to bringing this vision to life!

The architect has initiated global distribution of the movie during this week’s American Film Market (AFM). Further, it’s anticipated that filming will start somewhere between April, May, or June 2025, as production is slated to begin in Australia during the second quarter.

The story, titled “Nest,” revolves around a small family of three who find themselves sharing their newly acquired home with a rather large female spider. The character, Remy, portrayed by Mallard, is a new dad who bravely takes on the challenge of protecting his loved ones from a group of creepy-crawlies. As of now, it remains undecided who will bring Grace, Remy’s wife, and their infant daughter Zoe to life on screen.

Writer-director Guy Edmonds had this to say about his new movie via Deadline:

Nest is every parent’s worst nightmare. It’s a home invasion film from within, which becomes a fight to defend their child as the house is infested by another family: of spiders!

Producer Bethany Jones also had something to say about Nest via Deadline:

Guy has written a skin-crawling creature feature with a beating heart – focused on a couple you’ll fall in love with and want to see thrive as they’re threatened by a nightmarish intruder.
