Ricochet is thriving since moving to All Elite Wrestling

As a long-time wrestling enthusiast with decades of memories etched into my soul, I can confidently say that Ricochet’s leap to AEW has been nothing short of exhilarating! After years of feeling like he was stuck behind a glass ceiling in WWE, it’s heartening to see him thrive and showcase his extraordinary talent.

Since August 25, Ricochet has been a member of the AEW roster and has made quite an impact with his unique actions. It appears that he’s planning even greater things moving forward. On Tuesday, it was announced that he will compete against Zack Sabre Jr for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship. Ricochet demonstrates how a change of environment can boost the careers of gifted pro wrestlers.

To numerous spectators, Ricochet is considered among the top-tier entertainers within the industry. A pioneer in multiple aspects. However, due to this perception, there were struggles in how he was utilized during his tenure with WWE. He possessed the abilities to headline events, but he was never showcased in that role. Despite winning midcard titles, it was evident where his potential ceiling lay compared to some of his contemporaries.

Currently, there’s speculation about whether AEW will present Ricochet more prominently moving forward. The decision isn’t final yet, but so far, things are looking promising. He’s currently embroiled in a significant storyline concerning the AEW International Championship, and his recent booking in New Japan Pro-Wrestling seems significant. Ricochet will soon face off against one of the most influential international wrestlers in the industry today. This opportunity allows him to finally realize his dream – to perform at his best.

Ricochet shared that he recently spent hours chatting with Tony about wrestling, and not much business. He mentioned how the conversation made him feel like a fan again. He’s made friends there, and when he reflected on his most enjoyable career moments, they were spending time with those people. He’s looking to rediscover that excitement, that fun. And since they’re open to new ideas, he knew they’d let him experiment.

That’s a powerful statement from someone that has been in wrestling for 21 years. Giving Ricochet and other wrestlers like him the opportunity to rekindle their love for professional wrestling is why organizations like AEW, NJPW, TNA and others are so important.

Thus far, Ricochet’s move to AEW appears to be thriving. He’s receiving quality bookings, regularly appearing on television in significant matches, and getting chances to shine. May this positive trend persist, allowing him to reach a peak as a main champion – something his fans have longed for years and now seems attainable.
