Richard E Grant reveals the VERY bizarre Christmas treat he enjoys all year round - leaving Nick Grimshaw and chef Angela Hartnett in shock

As a lifestyle expert with a rich background in understanding human quirks and eccentricities, I must say that Richard E Grant’s Christmas pudding obsession all year round is not merely unusual; it’s downright extraordinary! However, when you consider his life-long devotion to Barbra Streisand, this love for a dessert seems almost ordinary.

Richard E Grant has revealed the very bizarre Christmas treat that he enjoys all year round.

This week, the 67-year-old actor and host was a guest on Angela Hartnett and Nick Grimshaw’s popular podcast, Dish. During their conversation, they delved into the unique culinary preferences of the guest.

Nick asked him what his favourite sandwich filling was as part of a quick fire series of questions.

Richard then replied saying: ‘Christmas pudding. I eat one a month.’

Angela seemed utterly puzzled as she responded with a “That’s interesting,” and then Nick countered with, “You don’t understand that!” (or simply “You don’t get it!”)

Nick then asked him: ‘Do you have to stockpile them (the puddings)?’

Richard quickly replied saying: ‘I’ve got 27 in my pantry!’

In addition to the podcast conversation, Richard disclosed the reasons behind his practice of exclusively trying out for roles remotely and abstaining from revisiting his own movies.

On Wednesday’s episode of the Dish from Waitrose podcast, the celebrity from Saltburn opened up about his personal experiences while under public scrutiny.

To both Nick and Angela, Richard openly shared that he finds self-taped auditions more appealing than live ones because they allow him a chance to retake the performance if something goes wrong during the recording.

He also touched on how it can psyche you out at an audition when the person in before you is friends with the panel already. ‘It’s soul-destroying,’ Richard said.

He mentioned that you need to record yourself frequently. I find that advantageous since you can study the material, practice, and ultimately perform in a comfortable environment. This reduces stress because you’re at home, and if you make a mistake, you have the opportunity to redo it.

If you enter a room similar to this, it might prompt the people inside to think or say something like, “Go ahead and share your thoughts,” or simply nod in agreement.

The individual departing appears to be quite close friends with the casting director, casually mentioning, “Sweetheart, we’ll get in touch with you next week, for dinner, sweetheart.

You should step inside, repeat the exact phrases they’ve recently used… And you recall their laughter from before, making the situation somewhat similar to…

‘It’s soul destroying…So it’s better to self-tape for me.’

Richard also revealed that he never watches back films he is in he finds it ‘horrifying’.

Inquired about his habit of self-viewing, he responded: “Never. Thirty-seven years ago was the last time I watched myself on screen, during a screening of the first movie I starred in. I was so taken aback by it that I offered the director, Bruce Robinson, to refund the money…

I was utterly shocked, as I realized there was no solution, and all I could think was, “Oh my goodness, is that truly your appearance?

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I find myself deeply engaged in activities that bring me joy, such as acting. However, when it comes to re-watching these performances afterward, I’m not always keen on doing so. Perhaps you share this sentiment; we both appreciate the process more than the reflection.

Richard has a notable fascination with the famous singer Barbra Streisand, as evident by his acquisition of a large, two-foot tall sculpture of her to place in his garden.

In the podcast, Richard reminded listeners that he had mentioned his sculpture to Barbra during a chat five years prior.

5 years ago, he mentioned, he had an hour-and-a-half private chat with her at Donna Karan’s residence…He found it incredibly hard to believe.

“After I finally told her about it, I said, ‘I just confessed out of the blue,’ and she asked, ‘What do you mean?’ I replied, ‘I’ve decided to have a two-foot-tall statue of your head made for my garden.’ Then she responded, ‘You’re nuts!’ And I agreed, saying, ‘Yes, I know.’

‘She said, ‘No, no, you are meshuga, you are crazy’.’

Standing next to his awe-inspiring statue in the year 2020, the actor from Star Wars wrote alongside the photo: “Paying tribute to @BarbraStreisand, who prefers to be captured on film from her left side.

I recently purchased and received a sculpture of Barbra Streisand, as I’ve been a passionate admirer of hers for more than fifty years. The sculpture stands at two feet tall.

In a separate clip, the Logan star explained the inspiration behind the sculpture as he said: ‘I’ve been a Barbra Streisand fan for 50 years, and when I saw her last summer, I told her I was having a sculpture made of her face.

She shared with me that I was not sane… she exclaimed, “Absolutely not, not at all, you are not sane!” Yet, I find myself more content than ever.

At the 2019 Academy Awards, the actor from Downton Abbey had the double pleasure of seeing Barbra perform live and meeting her in person – an exciting encounter he enthusiastically posted about on his social media platforms.

He had voiced his excitement over meeting the award-winning musician, who he wrote a fan letter to aged 14, before sharing a series of snaps with various fellow stars at the award show.
