Girls Aloud fans break down in tears as they listen to Sarah Harding’s ‘beautiful’ version of I’ll Stand By You which is released for BBC Children In Need three years after her death
As a devoted follower of pop music and a passionate supporter of charitable causes, I find this news about the re-release of “I’ll Stand By You” by Girls Aloud for BBC Children in Need truly heartwarming. The song, originally penned by Chrissie Hynde, holds a special place in many hearts and hearing it again, this time with the poignant vocals of Sarah Harding, brings back a wave of nostalgia.
Fans of Girls Aloud found themselves shedding tears upon hearing the group’s recent heartfelt track played on Wednesday, with Sarah Harding’s powerful vocals taking center stage.
20 years following Girls Aloud’s debut performance of “I’ll Stand By You” for BBC Children In Need, the legendary group is planning to unveil a fresh rendition of this beloved song. Remarkably, their cherished band member Sarah will be the sole lead vocalist throughout this exciting new version.
In the legendary girl group were Nadine Coyle, Cheryl, Nicola Roberts, and Kimberley Walsh, along with Sarah, who lost her battle with breast cancer in 2021.
For the very first time on Zoe Ball’s Radio 2 morning program, listeners found themselves overwhelmed, quickly flooding social media platforms like X and Instagram, expressing that they just couldn’t stop tearing up as they enjoyed the music.
I quietly overheard and ended up shedding a few tears. This rendition affected me more profoundly than watching it live. It’s an incredibly moving tribute to Sarah.
I wasn’t anticipating tears this morning, but this fantastic news! What a touching tribute to Sarah. Thank you for sharing this wonderful information with us.
9:15 AM, shedding tears while expressing support for “I’ll Stand By You,” which is now officially the Children in Need anthem – what a moving and wonderful choice!
As a lifestyle expert looking back on an exciting year, I stumbled upon some previously unheard gems of mine during the process of curating archival content for the sensational Girls Aloud arena tour we embarked on. It was truly a delight to rediscover my own untapped vocal talents hidden within the vault.
As a lifestyle enthusiast, I’m thrilled to announce that starting November 15, a heartwarming studio rendition will hit the airwaves. This unique piece is being launched specifically as a charity single, with all proceeds going to BBC Children In Need. Let’s join together in supporting this noble cause!
I’ll Stand By You – Sarah’s Version premiered on Zoe Ball’s Radio 2 breakfast show on Wednesday.
As a lifestyle enthusiast, I’m thrilled to announce that the Children in Need single for 2024 has finally arrived! Over the years, we’ve seen some incredible anthems come out of this campaign. Here’s hoping this one will generate plenty of funds for a worthy cause. After a long wait, it’s now your turn to join in, Nadine Coyle!
This morning, Nadine greets Zoe as follows: “Good day, Zoe! It’s Nadine speaking, a member of Girls Aloud here. We’ve got an extraordinary piece of news for you today. Today, we are unveiling the official Children in Need single for 2024.
In this fresh rendition, our exceptional artist Sarah takes center stage as the lead vocalist for ‘I’ll Stand By You’. This version serves not only as a tribute to Sarah but also commemorates the longstanding collaboration of Girls Aloud with Children in Need.
For the very first time, on Radio 2, let me introduce you to this year’s Children in Need single for 2024 – it’s ‘I’ll Stand By You’. Enjoy!
Following the song broadcast, Zoe commented: “Everyone has teary eyes; that was incredibly heartwarming. I’m overjoyed it’s Girls Aloud.
‘You are hearing Sarah’s voice and thinking about those children that need support.’
During the BBC Children in Need Appeal Show on November 15th, a fresh version of the original video including previously unrevealed archive footage will make its debut.
Money raised from this individual donation will contribute to BBC Children in Need initiatives that aid children residing in diverse British communities who encounter numerous obstacles, such as those providing assistance for children affected by cancer.
Initially, “The Song” was composed as a solo release by the band The Pretenders, penned by Chrissie Hynde, Billy Steinberg, and Tom Kelly.
Upon learning about this revised rendition, Chrissie exclaimed, “What a delight to find out that Sarah Harding will be singing ‘I’ll Stand By You’ as the lead vocalist for BBC Children in Need! Wishing you all a joyful Christmas!
Girls Aloud reunited this year for their anniversary tour and honoured Sarah throughout each show.
The group – Cheryl, Nadine, Kimberley, and Nicola – paid tribute to Sarah, who was diagnosed with cancer in August 2020 and passed away a year later, by playing a video of Sarah singing one of their popular songs, ‘The Promise,’ alone while they watched.
During our latest tour, Sarah’s rendition on the song stood out as a memorable high point that touched both the band members and the audience emotionally.
In conversation with TopMob, Kimberley explained that honoring Sarah was a deeply therapeutic experience for her, following their performance together on the song “I’ll Stand By You,” where they featured Sarah’s vocals.
Kimberley mentioned that honoring Sarah was a very therapeutic experience for her; she found it to be truly so, despite the initial difficulty, the planning and rehearsing without her were quite agonizing.
After witnessing her being recognized once more and hearing her voice resonate through the arena again, along with the public’s heartfelt affection, observing the joy it brought to her mother, and so much more, we felt truly incredible.
In the meantime, Cheryl expressed her longing for Sarah’s lively and electric personality, which she missed dearly following her passing due to breast cancer.
During a unique two-hour broadcast on Radio 2, Cheryl mentioned that there were intimate moments she would share with her on stage during tours. (In this paraphrase, I’ve tried to maintain the original meaning while using simpler and more conversational language.)
In that particular instant, Sarah was uniquely present, and it’s hard to put into words… only the four of us could truly understand her at that depth.
