Leonard Nimoy Live Long and Prosper pendant that went to space up for auction

As a lifelong Star Trek fan and a passionate supporter of medical research, this auction has me absolutely thrilled! The opportunity to own one of the “Live Long and Prosper” pendants that traveled to space is not just a chance to invest in an irreplaceable collectible, but also to contribute towards a noble cause.

In 2021, I was thrilled to learn that ten “Live Long and Prosper” pendant necklaces were propelled into space aboard a Blue Origin rocket. These unique pieces were generously donated by Julie Nimoy and David Knight. Upon their return, five of these pendants have been bestowed upon individuals, with Whoopi Goldberg, Mayim Bialik, Billie Jean King, Neil DeGrasse Tyson, and LeVar Burton being among the esteemed recipients. Now, one of these sought-after pendants is set to be auctioned off by Propstore Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction on November 14. Although bidding for other memorabilia will continue through November 17, the opportunity to bid on this pendant will only be available on the 14th. [Personally speaking]

The auction features various items belonging to Leonard Nimoy, carefully selected by Julie Nimoy and her husband David Knight. The revenue generated from these sales will contribute to financing a memorial sculpture for Nimoy at the Museum of Science in Boston, as well as funding COPD research led by Dr. John Belperio and his team at UCLA Medical Center.

The details of the auction were highlighted in a video at the Prop_Store’s Instagram page and is included below.

“My father’s legacy continues to inspire people around the world, and this auction is a special way to honor his memory. We’ve carefully curated these rare items to raise funds for the Leonard Nimoy LLAP Memorial sculpture and for COPD Research, which will be a meaningful tribute to his life and the values he stood for. We’re particularly excited to see the LLAP memorial take shape at the Museum of Science in Boston, Leonard’s hometown that he loved.”

Julie Nimoy

Last year, on Leonard Nimoy’s 92nd birthday, Mayim Bialik paid tribute to him by showcasing a necklace on her Instagram account.

The starting bid for the necklace is £20,000 ($26,064.00 in US dollars) so this will be a definite investment, not only in a collectible piece of irreplaceable memorabilia but also as a contribution toward the monument that will forever stand in honor of Nimoy and advances in medical research that will help future COPD patients. The Museum of Science needs to raise $500,000 to begin the monument project. Currently, they are at 78% of that goal.
