The Gilded Age and The Boys spinoff Gen V add cast members ahead of new seasons
As a connoisseur of cinema and TV, I find myself intrigued by these two contrasting shows: the elegant period drama “The Gilded Age” and the gritty superhero spinoff “Gen V”. Despite their disparate themes, they share a common thread – expanding casts ahead of new seasons.
While it may seem unusual to compare “The Gilded Age,” HBO’s elegant drama about subtle conflicts among the wealthy elite in 1880s New York, with “Gen V,” a spin-off of “The Boys” where students have their heads vaporized by psychopathic superheroes, you would be correct in your assumption that they don’t share many similarities. However, there is one notable parallel: both shows are enlarging their casts prior to the premiere of their new seasons – we’re talking about season 3 for “The Gilded Age” and season 2 for “Gen V.
Intrigued by the captivating era of “The Gilded Age,” I find myself drawn to its stellar ensemble that includes Carrie Coon, Morgan Spector, Louisa Jacobson, Denee Benton, Taissa Farmiga, and Harry Richardson. As per recent reports from Deadline, the third season is set to welcome six additional cast members who will portray historical figures of the time.
- Dylan Baker (The Good Wife) is Dr. Logan, who treats super-fancy high society families
- Kate Baldwin is Nancy Adams Bell, the older sister of John Adams (The Gilded Age character, not the real-life president)
- Michael Cumpsty (Severance) as British nobleman Lord Mildmay
- John Ellison Conlee (Boardwalk Empire) as Weston, a successful businessman
- Bobby Steggert (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) as John Singer Sargent, a real-life famous artist
- Hannah Shealy as Charlotte Astor, the daughter of real-life socialite supreme Mrs. Astor
In the opulently designed dining room, I can foresee the fresh cast members engaging in a mix of polite yet sharp-witted dinner banter. However, even the slightest breach of etiquette seems to send shockwaves through this group, as if it were an end-of-the-world scenario. But don’t worry, I’m just joking; I find myself drawn to The Gilded Age, a show that delves into the intricacies of manners and is undoubtedly my secret indulgence. Buckle up for some refined entertainment!
The Boys spinoff Gen V adds seven new cast members ahead of season 2
In the intense, action-packed realm of Gen V, a group of seven new characters have been added to the show: Keeya King (Yellowjackets), Stephen Kalyn (Warrior Strong), Julia Knope (In The Dark), Stacey McGunnigle (This Hour Has 22 Minutes), Tait Fletcher (The Mandalorian), Wyatt Dorion (Eerie Hall) and Georgie Murphy (Accused). At this time, it remains unknown which roles they will be playing. However, we can confidently say that none of them are portraying real-life individuals in the series.
At Godolkin University, the story unfolds as budding superheroes acquire skills and knowledge necessary for the humanitarian field. However, in the universe of “The Boys,” these superheroes are frequently self-centered and vain, masking their disregard for others behind a facade of compassion. Tragically, many meet grisly, revolting ends before they can address their personal issues.
Seven fresh actors are set to team up with Jaz Sinclair, Lizze Broadway, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Asa Germann, and Shelley Conn in our cast for the upcoming season. Unfortunately, Chance Perdomo, who played Andre Anderson in season 1, passed away in a motorcycle accident. His character will not be replaced for season 2.
It’s not yet clear when seasons 3 of “The Gilded Age” and season 2 of “Gen V” will be released, but both are anticipated for 2025. Here’s hoping they don’t premiere simultaneously, making it difficult for their shared audience to decide which to watch.
