As a history enthusiast who has spent countless hours immersed in the intricate web of Tudor politics and court life, I must say that the trailer for Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light leaves me both excited and apprehensive. Having read Dame Hilary Mantel’s novel, I am aware of the darker tone that this final installment promises. The power struggles, paranoia, and ruthless ambition depicted in the trailer resonate deeply with the realities of that era, making it a gripping portrayal of a tumultuous time.

At the photocall for “Wolf Hall: The Mirror And The Light,” Damian Lewis chose a relaxed look, donning jeans and a leather coat, and was accompanied by Thomas Brodie-Sangster, who also attended casually dressed.

53-year-old star from Homeland, one of the leading actors in the latest BBC series, graced an event held at BFI Southbank, London, on a Monday.

He went low-key for the photocall as he sported a pair of dark denim jeans with a brown belt, as well as a collared leather jacket.

Damian – who plays Henry Tudor in the show – finished off his look with a v-neck black t-shirt and New Balance trainers, as he smirked showing off his moustache.

At the event’s photo opportunity, Thomas, who played the role of Rafe Sadler in the series, was also a notable presence among the stars.

Thomas was smartly dressed in a lengthy black overcoat, complemented by a snug-fitting turtleneck sweater, well-tailored pants, and stylish leather shoes.

Harry Potter’s co-star, Harry Melling, was also part of the duo. He donned a stylish pair of brown pinstripe pants, complemented by a gray shirt and a casual bomber jacket.

Kate Phillips, the actress portraying Jane Seymour, showcased a bold look by wearing a triangle-shaped bra underneath a mesh jumpsuit.

The actress from Peaky Blinders finished off her stylish outfit by adding a pair of wide-legged pants and tall brown boots with heels to the mix.

Game Of Thrones star Will Tudor kept it simple in a cream knitted top and black fitted trousers.

An exclusive image from the new series of Wolf Hall was released last week, depicting a besotted King Henry VIII marrying his third wife, Jane Seymour.

This brief pause offers a serene and calm respite before the upcoming series airing next Sunday, known for being even more ominous and violent compared to its 2015 version that we previously saw.

35-year-old Kate, primarily recognized for portraying Jane Seymour, has gained notoriety due to her performance as Linda Shelby in the gritty BBC gangster series, Peaky Blinders.

According to Dame Hilary Mantel’s book titled “Wolf Hall,” the continuation, titled “The Mirror and the Light,” resumes following the events that unfolded after the beheading of Queen Anne Boleyn.

In my fervent admiration, I can’t help but observe that the demise of the Queen has opened a new chapter for the King, one where he might find love anew. Yet, within the hallowed halls of our royal court, the intrigue and machinations are more treacherous than ever before – a dance of power and politics that I, as a devoted fan, eagerly follow with bated breath.

In a more solitary and frantic state, once more portrayed by Sir Mark Rylance as Thomas Cromwell, will resort to any means necessary to maintain his grip on power. On the other hand, King Henry, reprised by Homeland’s Damian Lewis, is becoming progressively suspicious, making it harder to satisfy him.

This bleaker tone is evident in the new trailer which features the King telling Tudor powerbroker Cromwell: ‘You have very few friends Cromwell’ and ‘always you with the bad news’.

Cromwell advises one of his followers, “If talks and concessions break down, and you’re left with no other choice but to annihilate your adversaries… make sure you have a sword ready.

This darker tone will reflect the reality of the period. But the show is not all blood and guts.

Those enamored with the lavish wardrobes, scenery, and backdrops from the initial season can expect continued satisfaction in this new installment.

Joanna Eatwell, the costume designer, stated that it’s an exceptional era for male characters. They exude beauty, while the female counterparts appear more straightforward in their attire.

Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light airs on iPlayer and BBC One at 9pm on Sunday 10 November.
