Sir Mick Jagger urges Americans to vote and reveals his children are backing Kamala Harris in presidential election on final day of campaigning
As a seasoned environmental advocate with over three decades of experience, I cannot help but be alarmed at the current state of affairs in the United States regarding climate change. Having witnessed the gradual deterioration of our planet due to human activities, it is disheartening to see a nation that should be leading the charge in combating this global crisis instead choosing to roll back environmental controls.
Mick Jagger, the esteemed singer, has encouraged his U.S. supporters to cast their votes in next week’s presidential election, expressing his backing for Kamala Harris.
On Monday, just before the polls opened on Tuesday, the renowned Rolling Stones musician, who is now 81 years old, shared a post on Instagram.
He shared two sweet snaps with six of his eight children as he reminded people to vote and revealed his kids were backing Kamala.
One image captures Mick Sir together with his four daughters: Karis (54), born to Marsha Hunt, Jade (43) from his former spouse Bianca Jagger, Elizabeth (40), and Georgia May (32), whom he has with Jerry Hall.
As the second looked on happily next to his son James, aged 39, who he has with Jerry and Lucas, aged 25, whom he also shares with model Luciana Gimenez Morad.
Captioning the shots, he wrote: ‘DON’T FORGET TO VOTE – JAGGER KIDS ARE VOTING FOR KAMALA’.
Additionally, the musician has a 26-year-old son named Gabriel, whom he shares with Jerry, and a seven-year-old child named Deveraux, who is his offspring with his present companion, an American ballet dancer named Melanie Hamrick.
Even though Sir Mick is unable to cast his ballot on Tuesday, he has passionately emphasized the significance of voting. He stirred up enthusiasm among Rolling Stones audience members in May by urging them not to underestimate their civic duty!
Speaking to the crowd at Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts, he expressed: “We’ve now reached the part where we sing about voting, and it was incredible how engaged everyone became! I want to extend my gratitude… to all those who participated in the voting process.
Moreover, let me emphasize this point: In November, there’s a significant event happening – a presidential election. Make sure you exercise your right to vote and don’t overlook it!
Although he hadn’t openly endorsed any candidate before, he hasn’t hesitated to speak out against Donald Trump.
In 2020, Sir Mick Jagger and the Rolling Stones warned that they would file a lawsuit against the ex-President as he persisted in playing their tunes at his gatherings, disregarding repeated requests to stop.
During Donald Trump’s 2016 election campaign, it was noted that The Stones protested against the use of their songs to energize his conservative supporters at rally events.
Their beloved 1969 classic You Can´t Always Get What You Want was a popular song for his events.
The band announced that they are collaborating with the music rights group, BMI, through their legal team, to prevent the use of their songs during Donald Trump’s 2020 reelection campaign.
As a devoted follower of music, I find myself in the company of many esteemed artists who have made it clear that they do not wish their tunes to be associated with any political campaign, particularly Donald Trump’s. Artists such as Prince, Queen, Guns N’ Roses, Rihanna, Neil Young, Aerosmith, Pharrell, George Harrison, Adele, R.E.M., Panic! At The Disco, Twisted Sister, and Elton John have all voiced their displeasure at the use of their music by Trump’s campaign.
Apart from their disagreements on various topics like climate change, musician Sir Mick has criticized Trump for being divisive and impolite, stating that he is destructively undermining America’s protections for the environment.
In 2019, the musician expressed that America ought to establish the global benchmark for environmental regulations. However, with President Trump in office, Sir Mick Jagger feels that environmental protections are being dismantled.
The former president was criticized for downplaying the severity of climate change. He stated: “We find ourselves in a critical predicament, particularly within the United States, where many environmental regulations established to ensure minimal safety have been significantly dismantled by the current administration, leaving them nearly non-existent.
Instead of leading the world in environmental stewardship, the U.S. appears to be moving in a different direction now.
As I prepare for the big day tomorrow, with just one more day left before the election, I find myself crisscrossing pivotal battleground states alongside Trump and Harris, each of us making our final pitches to voters.
Trump will be holding rallies in the crucial states of Michigan, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania on the final day of his election campaign.
Currently, Harris is visiting Philadelphia, Allentown, and Pittsburgh, accompanied by high-profile supporters like Oprah and Katy Perry.
According to a recent survey conducted by The New York Times, published yesterday, Kamala Harris leads Donald Trump by a margin in four crucial swing states: Georgia, Nevada, North Carolina, and Wisconsin.
They are tied in Michigan and Pennsylvania and Trump is up by one point in Arizona.
According to the Real Clear Polling average, Trump leads Harris by a narrow margin of 0.1% nationally. The upcoming election could be one of the closest in U.S. history, as a recent TIPP poll indicates that both candidates are tied at 48%.
Based on current betting odds, Trump is slightly ahead of Harris again, just under two days before the polls close, following an unexpected poll result in Iowa that showed the Vice President leading in the traditionally Republican state.
