Hugh Jackman weighs in on Martha Stewart calling his friend Ryan Reynolds ‘not funny’
As I delve into Martha Stewart‘s life story, I find myself utterly captivated by her resilience and indomitable spirit. Her journey from a teenage model to a self-made billionaire is nothing short of extraordinary. However, it seems that even with her immense success, she isn’t entirely pleased with the Netflix documentary about her life.
Hugh Jackman playfully concurred with Martha Stewart following her remark that his friend and co-star, Ryan Reynolds, isn’t humorous.
In a playfully stern manner, the words served as an ideal start for Jackman, aged 56, who’s been engaged in a long-standing, jocular rivalry with Reynolds, often played out publicly.
Reynolds remained unimpressed as the 83-year-old lifestyle expert, a neighbor residing near him in Bedford, New York, insisted that his humorous behavior was merely a performance. However, he playfully noted it wouldn’t be prudent to contradict her on this matter.
Martha admitted she was ‘going to get in trouble’ when she dissed ‘serious’ Ryan.
During an interview on Bilt Rewards’ Rent Free game show, when asked about the top three celebrities she’d enjoy spending time with, she pondered: “Is Ryan Reynolds, who usually hides behind makeup in his movies, someone I’d pick?
‘And you want to know something? He’s not so funny in real life,’ she offered up. ‘No, he’s not so funny. He’s very serious.’
However, Stewart conceded that Reynolds was a ‘good actor.’
She explained, “He might seem humorous at times, but he’s not actually funny.” However, she added a hopeful note, suggesting, “Perhaps he could become funny again someday.
Then Stewart worried she was ‘going to get in trouble’ because Reynolds is her ‘neighbor.’
In response to her widely shared remarks, the 48-year-old actor known for playing Green Lantern expressed on platform X, “I would respectfully disagree with her. However, I’ve attempted what she suggested before.
He continued: ‘The woman is unexpectedly spry. She really closed the gap after a mile or so.’
Currently, Jackman, who starred alongside Reynolds in the latest hit movie Deadpool and Wolverine, has expressed his thoughts on social media.
In a reply to Reynolds’ post on X, the X-Men star quipped: ‘Finally someone says it.’
Ever since I moved into my humble abode in the same neighborhood as Ryan Reynolds and his lovely wife Blake Lively, I’ve been nothing short of thrilled! Not only do these two superstars own a stunning $2 million home nearby, but we’ve also struck up a wonderful friendship. It feels like fate that we live so close, and I couldn’t be happier about it!
In 2014, she shared with HuffPost that Blake and his partner Ryan had relocated to her neighborhood about two years prior to their marriage, purchasing a home nearby her residence.
She mentioned that they began visiting, not for sugar but simply as friends, and she added that they are incredibly friendly and courteous individuals. They have a reserved nature, somewhat timid in real life, although they certainly don’t come across as shy on the screen, especially if you’ve watched any of Blake’s films.
In her interview on Rent Free, Martha mentioned Brad Pitt and George Clooney as famous individuals she’d enjoy spending time with, despite neither of them being on the initial list.
The three top answers were then revealed as Taylor Swift, Reynolds, and Martha’s good pal Snoop Dogg.
Martha indicated that she would replace Ryan from the list with Clooney in third position, elevating Snoop up the list. She mentioned this because Clooney is entertaining and enjoyable to spend time with, as George is.
Reynolds has appeared in several comedies, such as National Lampoon’s Van Wilder from 2002, Waiting… from 2005, The Proposal in 2009, Spirited in 2022, and Free Guy in 2021. Additionally, he stars in the Deadpool series: Deadpool in 2016, Deadpool 2 in 2018, and Deadpool & Wolverine scheduled for release in 2024.
On the game show, Stewart unveiled her recently published cookbook titled “Martha: The Cookbook: 100 Favorite Recipes,” which includes a mix of favorite recipes, lessons, and stories from her personal kitchen. This book was officially released on October 22nd.
In October, a Netflix documentary about her life entitled “Martha” was made available. However, the main character admitted that she found the concluding scenes displeasing and felt that the second half lacked effort.
In the movie directed by R.J. Cutler, the life of the businesswoman is thoroughly examined. The film follows her journey, starting as a teenager in the modeling world, all the way up to becoming the pioneer of influence and America’s first self-made female billionaire.
Despite the documentary garnering significant attention due to Martha’s open discussions about her 29-year union with her former spouse Andy, including their extramarital relationships, the magnate expresses disapproval towards the project.
During a candid and unrestricted conversation, Martha openly discussed multiple aspects that displeased her – such as unfavorable camera perspectives and several stories omitted from the final edit.
She was displeased when he chose not to remove the final scenes where I appeared as an elderly woman, stooped and seemingly alone in the garden. She expressed her frustration by saying, “Those particular scenes, with me looking like an old lady walking hunched over in the garden? I insisted he get rid of them, but he wouldn’t listen!
‘I hate those last scenes. Hate them.’
When speaking with The New York Times, Martha shared that she had suffered a tear in her Achilles tendon and had undergone a surgical procedure as a result, which is why she’s been walking with a limp.
She jokingly added, “Yet, he fails to explain why – it’s amazing I can endure such hardship and still work every day of the week.
Martha found herself quite annoyed when R.J. persisted with the most unflattering camera angle, even though she had requested him to adjust it.
She stated, “He had three camera options, yet he persisted in selecting the least flattering one. I told him, ‘Please choose a different angle! The current one is far from flattering. With three cameras at your disposal, you could easily opt for another perspective.’ However, he refused to adjust it.
Beyond her initial concerns, Martha also voiced disappointment about the documentary’s musical selection. She shared that she wished rap music had been chosen instead of the classical score that R.J. opted for.
