As a lifestyle expert with years of observation and experience under my belt, I wholeheartedly approve of Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan’s unique approach to their marital bliss. Sleeping in separate beds might not be the conventional norm, but if it works for them and ensures they both get a good night’s rest, then who am I to judge?

Richard Madeley has revealed that he and his wife Judy Finnigan sleep in separate beds.

In the 80s, the well-known pair crossed paths for the first time when they were both employed at ITV Granada Television. They later got married in 1986.

On Kate Thornton’s White Wine Question Time podcast, Richard openly admitted details about his lengthy relationship with Judy.

Richard shares that he stays in the guest room during his appearance on Good Morning Britain, as he needs to awaken in the wee hours without disturbing Judy’s peaceful slumber.

‘When I’m doing Good Morning Britain I sleep in the spare room,’ Richard admitted.

‘I do probably sleep a little bit better in bed with Judy but I’m okay on my own.’

Regarding disturbing Judy’s sleep by waking her up early, he mentioned: ‘I would never consider causing such a disturbance to Judy.’

‘Apart from anything else, Judy and her sleep, you do not mess with.’

In their Channel 5 documentary titled “Our Best Bits – In Our Own Words,” Richard and Judy recently shared thoughts about their relationship, which was broadcast during the summer months.

The pair spoke about the first time they met at Granada and the initial chemistry between them.

When Judy got married to journalist David Henshaw, Richard was going through the process of divorcing his first wife, Lynda.

Judy remarked: “On your initial day at the newsroom, I recall you entering while donning an extraordinarily bright sky-blue suit that gave quite the eccentric impression.

In Grenada, there was a custom where the newcomers were given a guide, and I happened to be your guide, serving as your mentor or protector. So, in essence, I was like your guardian or caretaker during that time.

Looking back, Richard remarked: “Suddenly, I felt two hands on the back of my neck, and a voice whispered, ‘I’m your mommy.’ As I turned around, there stood a stunning blonde.

‘It seemed an off thing to say so I was like ”what??” So yeah she was my assigned mummy.’

In a candid moment, I shared with others that my very first kiss took place – quite unexpectedly, I might add – following an ordinary workday in the bustling city of Blackpool. This memorable encounter unfolded in the cozy confines of a black taxi cab.

In Blackpool, we spent an extended day shooting promotional material. We developed a strong rapport during the process. Eventually, since our crew had departed, we hailed a taxi, and made our way back to Manchester, a journey of about an hour.

‘It was in the darkness of the cab that we kind of fell for each other really, and kissed.’

Their daughter, Chloe, disclosed that her parents had faced challenging periods over the course of their 38-year marriage.

After getting married, the pair went on to have children named Jack and Chloe, all the while building a prosperous career in television presentation. They became regular faces on shows like “This Morning” and even had their own prime-time magazine program.

In a recent interview, Chloe, age 37 (who has parted ways with spouse James Haskell), shared insights on how her parents have managed their 40-year relationship. She also revealed a key factor contributing to their enduring bond.

When asked about the longevity of their marriage, she shared with Closer magazine that they would simply put it this way – the key to maintaining their long-lasting union lies in avoiding divorce.

For more than four decades, they’ve navigated their relationship, experiencing tough times where they faced significant challenges, yet they persevered and remained united. It seems like there were never circumstances dire enough that would lead them to part ways.

The fitness coach commended the duo for establishing an exceptional benchmark, remarking later that she had struck a valuable find in terms of parents.

Even though they had a harmonious relationship, Chloe confessed that she had no compulsion to persist with her own marriage due to her family background.
