Spirit put an end to Astralis’ Cinderella run in BLAST Premier World Final 2024

As a seasoned gamer with years of experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation as I watch Team Spirit take on G2 in the grand finals of the BLAST Premier World Final 2024. The Russians have certainly earned their spot, having shown great resilience in knocking out Astralis in the semis after a nail-biting 2-1 victory.

In the final showdown of the BLAST Premier World Final 2024, Spirit will get a rematch where they can try to avenge their earlier losses against G2.

On November 2nd, Team Spirit knocked out Astralis from the BLAST Premier World Final 2024 following a thrilling 3-game series that ended with a 2-1 win. This triumph secured their place in the championship match against G2.

As a gamer, I had high aspirations that Astralis would make it to our first grand final under the guidance of Casper “cadiaN” Møller, seeing as we had swept Natus Vincere and MOUZ in the group stage with a 2-0 score. But alas, Spirit dashed our dreams of a fairy tale finish at the event in Singapore, advancing to their fifth grand final of the year instead.

This time, we’ll find out if Spirit can overcome G2, since they previously lost to NiKo Kovač and his team during the group stage when the Russians were playing.

However, let’s shift gears from anticipating tomorrow’s finals. Instead, let me share with you our comprehensive summary of the semifinal clash between Spirit and Astralis at the BLAST Premier World Final.

Spirit 2-1 Astralis in BLAST Premier World Final 2024: Recap

Dust 2 recap (Spirit 13-5 Astralis)

On Dust 2, Astralis’s T-side wasn’t particularly dynamic. Frequently, Spirit positioned three players at the A bombsite to defend Long, which delayed Astralis as they scouted other areas of the map.

As a dedicated fan, I couldn’t help but cheer as Spirit, the Danes’ opponents, started to gain momentum. By half-time, they had taken a commanding lead of 7-5 on Dust 2’s T-side. They then proceeded to teach Astralis a thing or two about the map. In an impressive streak, the Russians clinched six rounds consecutively. The cherry on top was a triple kill by Boris “magixx” Vorobyev that sealed the deal. However, it was donk who truly shone as the MVP of the map. With a staggering 20 kills to his name and only dying 10 times, he left an indelible mark on the game.

Vertigo recap (Astralis 12-3 Spirit)

After the match on Dust 2, Astralis showed an impressive comeback. This Danish team seemed almost unrecognizable and swiftly defeated Spirit on the map Vertigo.

On this particular map, Astralis’ performance was flawless, demonstrating exceptional teamwork in trades and strategically dismantling Spirit. When a round seemed to favor Spirit, Astralis’ players rose to the challenge, as evidenced by Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz’s impressive one-versus-three clutch. Moreover, Martin “stavn” Lund shone brightly with an impressive 22 frags in merely 15 rounds.

Ancient recap (Spirit 13-TK Astralis)

After the impressive performance of Astralis on Vertigo, a surprise sweep was not anticipated by many. However, that’s exactly what transpired. Following their loss in the second map, Spirit seemed to psychologically recharge, and when they arrived at Ancient, it was clear they were there for retribution.

Initially, the map seemed promising for Astralis when cadiaN disrupted Dmitriy “sh1ro” Sokolov’s one-man assault during the first pistol round. However, things quickly turned sour as Spirit managed to win the second round with a force buy and took control of the game, overwhelming Astralis thereafter.

In the second part of the match, Astralis struggled significantly as they fell behind 9-3. They managed to score a few more rounds, but the considerable lead on the scoreboard was insurmountable. Eventually, Spirit took advantage of some effective counter-terrorist strategies and won 13-5.
