Mandy Moore shares the heartbreaking news that her 'extraordinary' dog Jackson has died at age 14

As a dedicated follower of Mandy Moore and her journey through life, it is with a heavy heart that I share my condolences on the loss of Jackson, her beloved fur baby. Having witnessed the beautiful bond between Moore and her pets over the years, it’s clear that Jackson was more than just a pet; he was an integral part of their family.

Mandy Moore has had to say goodbye to her beloved companion of more than a decade.

40-year-old actress, who became a mother to her newborn girl in September, was deeply grieving the death of her beloved pet, Jackson, on Friday.

Sharing her sorrow alongside a collection of memories featuring her rescued dog, Mandy Moore expressed her feelings of loss to her friends and followers on social media.

She penned, ‘My lovely canine friend. I appreciate the outstanding 14-plus years we’ve spent together.’ (Gold and Tan German Shepherd Mix)

She expressed, ‘You showed remarkable guardianship, even though we said it wasn’t required, you didn’t express much affection for other animals or children, but you loved in a unique way and clearly understood that you were cherished by everyone.’

The Tear Heals singer indicated that her beloved pup was tougher than he appeared.

Originally, you had a loud bark that appeared intimidating to some people, yet beneath your boisterous exterior lay a remarkably gentle soul. Interestingly, you were just as timid as a mouse when it came to confronting your own shadow.

‘My dearest Jackie D, my beloved senior friend. I wish for you to reunite with Joni (Moore’s dog who passed in 2020) and have a vast swimming pool where you can play fetch and swim till your heart’s delight. You are cherished eternally. Thank you for picking us as your family. ❤️‍❤️‍❤️‍❤️‍❤️’

Moore had Jackie when she began dating her husband, Taylor Goldsmith, 39 in 2015.

He remained by her side when the couple built a life together after their November 2018 wedding.

In February 2021, the gentle dog was present as the couple introduced their newborn son, August, affectionately known as Gus, into the family. Later, in October 2022, the same dog was there when the couple added another son, Oscar, or ‘Ozzie’, to their family.

The family welcomed Louise, called Lou, in September.

Images depict Jackie interacting with his human brothers and sisters, observing them while they slumber or experimenting with different foods alongside mom and dad.

Friend Minka Kelly expressed, ‘I’m truly sorry, Mand… He was incredibly fortunate to have you as his mother. The life you created for him was nothing short of beautiful. Sending all my love ♥️.’

Chrissy Metz, a co-star on This Is Us with Moore, expressed her sympathies by saying, “Oh, Mandy, I’m truly sorry. Sending you all my love ❤️.

‘I’m so sorry for your loss… ❤️‍❤️‍’ commented actress Kimberly Williams Paisley.

In January, the family took in a stray puppy they named Marshmallow, who was discovered wandering on the street by their nanny. They shared this joyous news on social media with the hashtag #adoptdontshop to encourage others not to shop for pets.
