Vitality send MOUZ packing in BLAST Premier World Final 2024

Vitality send MOUZ packing in BLAST Premier World Final 2024

As a seasoned gamer with over a decade of experience under my belt, I’ve seen teams rise and fall, and today was a perfect example of that. Vitality’s victory over MOUZ was as predictable as a clockwork mechanism; it’s almost like they had the key to their opponent’s strategy box!

In a repeat of past performances, MOUZ faltered on the main stage yet again, giving an opportunity for Vitality to seize the moment and progress to the semi-finals of the BLAST Premier World Final 2024.

Energy advanced to the semifinals of the BLAST Premier World Final 2024 after a dominating win against MOUZ on November 1.

Despite MOUZ being a top team throughout the year, they also faced challenges in all events with large crowds. Vitality took advantage of these struggles to secure a swift 2-0 win, even though they played with substitute Audric “JACKZ” Jug instead of William “mezii” Merriman, who was on paternity leave.

Fans of MOUZ might wonder why MOUZ chose Mirage over Dust 2, allowing Vitality to seize the latter. Both maps are considered popular among players in matchmaking (pugs), making them beneficial for a team dealing with a stand-in situation.

Tomorrow, November 2, Vitality is set to regain strength and compete against G2 in the semi-finals of the BLAST Premier World Final. Meanwhile, MOUZ will begin preparations for the Perfect World Shanghai Major European RMR.

Below, you’ll find a summary of the Vitality versus MOUZ match at the BLAST Premier World Final, followed by an interview with JACKZ, which was carried out by Nicholas Taifalos from Xpsp.

  • Vitality picked Dust 2
  • MOUZ picked Mirage
  • Vitality removed Vertigo
  • MOUZ removed Inferno
  • Nuke was left as the decider

Dust 2 (Vitality 13-6 MOUZ)

Initially, MOUZ triumphed in the initial pistol round and the subsequent two rounds on Dust 2. However, Vitality quickly gained speed with their T-side. Despite a disheartening loss due to just USP-S and one MP9, Vitality’s momentum remained undeterred, leading them to win the first half by a score of 7-5.

On the CT side, nearly everyone except IGL Dan “apEX” Madesclaire was landing their shots effectively. MOUZ made attempts to attack B site, but JACKZ held firm as the anchor, not only denying entry multiple times, but also pushing deep into Lower Tunnels on one round for a critical kill.

Mirage (Vitality 13-6 MOUZ)

In the match, it’s challenging for an opposing team when both Shahar “flameZ” and Spinx from Vitality join forces with ZywOo. These two players essentially controlled the game rhythm, racking up a total of 29 kills in just the initial half. This impressive performance gave Vitality a strong 8-4 advantage on their attacking side.

In the second part of the match, MOUZ faced more troubles after winning the pistol round but eventually losing to a counter-economic strategy by their opponents. This allowed Vitality to gain momentum, leveraging their financial advantage, and they ultimately ended the map quickly.

Post-match interview with Vitality JACKZ: “I just wanted to have this killer instinct coming into this series”

Back at a setting like this since quite some time, could you help me express what I’m feeling at this moment following the victory in front of such an amazing audience?

USER: “The experience was fantastic! My previous event was BLAST Lisbon, where we unfortunately lost against Vitality in the semifinals. However, the atmosphere at this venue is always lively and energizing. Coming back after two years makes it even more special.

Esports.gg: Talk me through the maps, because you guys came out with a bang on Dust 2 and you just kept it rolling on Mirage. Was this a veto that you guys expected?

USER: “I was driven to display a fierce determination for this series. We’ve got our strategy set, and our motivation stemmed from their victory over Vitality at the Rio finals. So, I’d describe it as raw competitiveness, using words like ‘determination’ and ‘focus’.

In my conversation with apEX yesterday, he mentioned that prior to each map, he would share one or two strategies for the T side, allowing for more flexibility on the CT side. Today, we witnessed even more of your skills, particularly on the T side, suggesting that you’re growing in confidence as you find your place within the team. Is that an accurate assessment?

“At first, I found it challenging because I was attempting to adapt swiftly, listen attentively, and suppress my emotions since they contained numerous keywords and a complex system. I felt somewhat disoriented as I overthought things, which is detrimental in computer science. Now, I’m trying to strike a balance, but mainly focusing on playing with my feelings, and it’s getting better each day. The more I engage with them, the more comfortable I become.

Esports.gg: What are you looking to make out of this event as a whole on an individual level? You’ve come in as a pretty late stand-in with no practice, it’s just kind of off the cuff.

“I consider myself a dedicated competitor in Counter-Strike (CS). My ambition remains to compete at the highest level, or even tier two, as I believe that 2025 will be an excellent year for LAN tournaments. I wish to challenge and test myself further, and I feel I already have some solutions. However, I still crave competition and believe I’ve earned at least a couple of solid years to showcase my skills in CS.
