A year after Ahsoka, we now know the truth about Baylan Skoll's alignment

As a devoted fan who has followed the Star Wars saga for a significant part of my life, I find myself intrigued by the revelation about Baylan Skoll’s character in Ahsoka. The news that EA’s Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes has shed light on his Force alignment comes as a breath of fresh air.

It’s been disheartening to realize that we won’t get to see more of Ray Stevenson’s captivating portrayal of his character in Ahsoka. However, as the anniversary of the series approaches, there’s some comforting news to expand upon Baylan Skoll’s storyline.

“More than his orange-colored lightsaber.”

As a dedicated Star Wars gamer, I’ve always been aware that Ahsoka had an unwavering interest in Grand Admiral Thrawn. This was clearly evident when she joined the cast of The Mandalorian, and fans who followed her journey in Rebels could sense it brewing. As the episodes unfolded on Disney+, the question wasn’t if Ahsoka would pursue Thrawn, but rather who or what might stand in her path along the way.

As a dedicated Star Wars fan, I’ve always been intrigued by the mysterious character Baylan. Previously, it was unclear where he stood in terms of the Force, largely due to his role as an apprentice master with the braid symbolizing a Padawan more than anything else, according to Moly Brizzell at ScreenRant. Now, fortunately, we’re getting some much-needed insights into Baylan’s nature, thanks to an unexpected source – game developer EA! In their mobile game, Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes, they are shedding light on Stevenson’s character by revealing which categories Baylan fits into. The discussion among fans is heated as they grapple with whether he should be considered a Sith or if he could potentially fall into the “gray Jedi” category given his background as a Clone Wars general.

According to Brizzell, his character profile now identifies him as a “Dark Jedi” and labels him as a Force user who isn’t aligned with either side. This doesn’t necessarily mean he’s a Sith or actively moving towards the dark side, but if Star Wars classifies him this way, it suggests that he might be leaning in that direction. He’s certainly not a ‘gray Jedi,’ as he seems to be drifting away from his Jedi identity.

What is his intention, then? Let’s turn to Episode 4 of Ahsoka, with this quote:

It is an unfortunate evil, but speaks to a greater truth. One must destroy to create.

Baylan Skoll.

In episode 6, titled “Far, Far Away,” he mirrors the recurring theme: “The decline of the Jedi, ascension of the Empire.” This pattern recurs consistently. He is a man striving for equilibrium, and the ScreenRant article hints that his intentions to utilize the gods from Mortis could be instrumental in attaining this balance. According to Brizzell, these actions might originate from a more sinister part of Baylan than he’s revealed so far, suggesting a darker side lurking beneath.

As an eager fan, I can’t wait to unravel the mysteries that lie ahead in Ahsoka Season 2, scheduled for release in 2026. The unfolding events promise to be nothing short of exhilarating!
