3 big matches for Konosuke Takeshita as AEW International Champion

As a seasoned gamer of the squared circle, I can confidently say that Konosuke Takeshita’s rise to the AEW championship is a long-awaited victory for fans who have been following his journey. Much like how I finally beat Dark Souls after countless tries, Takeshita’s perseverance has paid off.

Konosuke Takeshita is finally a champion in All Elite Wrestling. He inserted himself into the Will Ospreay versus Ricochet drama, and he’s come out with a title on the back end of things. Now, fans are ready to see Takeshita put on a show as a champion – a position he’s long deserved in AEW. Looking at the roster, here are three matches that must happen now that he has a title around his waist.

PAC

Among all wrestlers in the AEW roster, PAC stands out as one of the top-tier performers. He was the inaugural International Champion and, arguably, the most exceptional wrestler yet to claim the AEW World Championship. For quite some time, he’s been recognized as a trailblazer in aerial and impactful offenses, contributing significantly to the modern wrestling landscape. Matching PAC against Takeshita on a show like AEW Dynamite or Rampage would undoubtedly generate buzz. Without a doubt, such a matchup qualifies as a dream encounter.

Buddy Matthews

Absolutely, it’s important to note that while Buddy Matthews has often played a supporting role, he is also a highly skilled singles performer. In fact, he held the WWE Cruiserweight Championship for 183 days between 2018 and 2019, during which time he delivered some of the most impressive wrestling matches. His series against Mustafa Ali is still considered a must-watch today. If there’s a way to arrange a one-off match between Buddy Matthews and Konosuke Takeshita for AEW, it would undoubtedly enhance any show.

Kota Ibushi

As a devoted fan, it’s been tough waiting for the return of Kota Ibushi after his injury layoff. Recently, he’s shared pictures of him training alongside Kenny Omega, which has only fueled my excitement. Before his setback, it seemed like Ibushi and Takeshita were on a collision course, destined for a fierce rivalry. Once he’s back in action, I can’t help but feel that their match is not just desirable, but necessary. A one-on-one battle between Kota Ibushi and Konosuke Takeshita would be electrifying, especially for the AEW International Championship. This bout would undeniably be a standout on any AEW PPV event.
