Disney Parks Magical Christmas Day Parade filming dates at Walt Disney World
As a devoted Disney enthusiast who has been attending the Magical Christmas Day Parade since its inception, I can confidently say that this annual tradition holds a special place in my heart. Over the years, I’ve witnessed countless magical moments unfold right before my eyes, from Mickey and Minnie’s heartwarming holiday greetings to the enchanting floats that grace Main Street, U.S.A.
Every Christmas season since 1983, families have gathered near their televisions to catch the Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade. This special television program showcases a parade along Main Street, U.S.A., with cameos from Disney’s most cherished characters, stunning floats, guest appearances by celebrities, live music performances, and much more.
The Magical Christmas Day Parade, which is typically broadcasted on Christmas Day after being recorded in November, has now confirmed its specific filming dates. These dates are November 9th and 10th, starting at 2:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, right here at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom.
What to know about the Magical Christmas Day Parade filming
If you plan on attending Magic Kingdom on either of the filming dates, there’s a few things to note. First of all, consider yourself lucky because you’ll be the first to see this year’s Magical Christmas Day Parade — well before it airs on Christmas Day!
Secondly, the good news is that it’s absolutely free! If you have a valid park ticket on either of those days, you can participate in the parade and holiday celebrations without spending a dime. However, there might be some congestion due to the large crowd, particularly on Main Street, U.S.A. This is because the crew requires additional time to capture certain shots at specific angles for television broadcast. Keep in mind that you’ll encounter camera crews and production equipment, including camera cranes, which could potentially obstruct some photo opportunities.
However, these minor compromises seem insignificant when considering the exceptional chance to catch a glimpse of the intricate processes involved in crafting Disney’s enchanting TV spectacles backstage.
Last year, we were present during the filming, and aside from some additional cameras and a longer-than-usual parade (which is typically only visible if you attend Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party), it seemed quite ordinary, almost like any other day in the Magic Kingdom.
