Margaret Qualley cast in Sanctuary director's next movie Victorian Psycho

As a die-hard fan of Margaret Qualley‘s versatile acting skills, I can hardly contain my excitement for her upcoming role in “Victorian Psycho.” Having already made a name for herself with critically acclaimed performances in films like “The Substance” and “Maid,” Qualley is set to take on the enigmatic character of Winifred Notty in this horror-thriller.

Skip the discussion about the “American Psycho” remake, let’s instead concentrate on an exciting development: Margaret Qualley featuring in another film by director Zachary Wigon, titled “Sanctuary”. In this upcoming production, she portrays a psychopath who secures employment as a governess at a Victorian-era gothic mansion, dating back to 1858.

In this upcoming horror-thriller film, it is revealed that Qualley will portray the main character, an unusual young woman named Winifred Notty, who exhibits signs of psychopathy. Her role involves caring for and educating the children of the homeowners about their family’s background. However, as staff members begin to mysteriously vanish, the owners suspect that there may be something sinister about their latest employee. The storyline seems to draw inspiration from a reversed version of “The Turn of the Screw.

As a fan of Zach Wigon’s work, I can’t help but feel elated at the prospect of collaborating with him once more. Delving into the intricate universe he has crafted feels like an extraordinary privilege, and I eagerly anticipate the experience.

Wigon portrays the character of Winifred as a multidimensional, morally ambiguous protagonist. He hints that Feito’s screenplay is a bold combination of psychological exploration, satire, graphic violence, and intrigue.

The film “Victorian Psychosis” is set to be adapted from an upcoming novel by Virginia Feito, who has previously penned the historical thriller “Mrs. March.” The book, sharing the same title, “Victorian Psychosis,” will hit shelves on February 5, 2025, with production for the movie kicking off in March 2025. Notably, Feito herself will be responsible for writing the screenplay.

2024 was a remarkable year for me, as I found myself immersed in Coralie Fargeat’s gripping body horror masterpiece, The Substance. I had the privilege of sharing the screen with Demi Moore, and together we delivered performances that many believe deserve Academy Award recognition.

Beyond “The Substance”, Qualley has graced numerous prominent productions including “Maid”, “Kinds of Kindness”, “Poor Things”, and “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”. She also boasts several upcoming films, such as the sequel to “Happy Gilmore”, titled “Happy Gilmore 2”, an Ethan Coen film named “Honey Don’t”, and “Blue Moon” directed by Richard Linklater.
