Zoe Saldana wants more from Uhura if she returns to Star Trek

As a fan who has grown up with Star Trek and witnessed Zoe Saldana’s phenomenal portrayal of Nyota Uhura, I am thrilled to see her ambition and curiosity driving her career forward. Her eagerness to explore new roles and deepen Uhura’s character is nothing short of inspiring.

Zoe Saldana plays an essential part in the upcoming Star Trek movie, much like no other actor. Her portrayal of Nyota Uhura earned exceptional praise, catapulting her into a well-known figure in Hollywood. She has consistently been one of the most impressive elements of the film and demonstrated that her skills extend beyond just the Star Trek series.

It’s no wonder that she continues to work on one large project after another, given that her Star Trek movies are currently on hold. Instead of simply waiting for the next installment in her Star Trek series, she is actively seeking out numerous significant projects to keep herself busy.

Indeed, she expresses interest in making a fourth movie, yet she doesn’t expect it to happen immediately, as she shared with Variety.

In the first years when these sequels were becoming a thing in my life, I wouldn’t do anything. I would just live my life and wait. Now I’m learning that there’s so many things I want to do. I’m like ‘Hey, what’s out there?’

It appears that if she returns to Star Trek, she might be aiming for a larger role than what she’s previously had in the last three films. Although her part expanded as the series progressed, she seems keen on exploring even more for Uhura, as she stated further to Variety.

She’s a xenolinguistics master, but I would like her doing something else. I’m curious to see her relationship with Spock (Zachary Quinto) and how that has evolved.

In a fascinating twist, it seems this universe has taken a unique path. It’s home to a different Uhura than we know, so let’s embrace the unknown! Perhaps our beloved characters, Uhura and Spock, have drifted apart, each holding the rank of first officer but serving on separate vessels.

It’s possible that Uhura and Spock are no longer a couple due to worries about their future. A potential plot twist could be that she is pregnant with Spock’s child. Originally, Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home was intended to delve into the relationship between Spock and fellow Vulcan, Saavik, but it appears this plan has been altered.

Regardless of the direction they choose, straying from the traditional tales of the initial series and movie saga could be beneficial. This is particularly true if they manage to produce something genuinely innovative along the way.
