Disney+ has released a first look at its upcoming comedy-drama, Alice and Steve, starring Nicola Walker (known from Unforgotten) and Jemaine Clement (Flight of the Conchords). The series focuses on the complicated relationship between friends Alice and Steve, and Disney+ is calling it a hilarious and unmissable show.
The new six-part series centers on Alice, who is heartbroken when her best friend, Steve, begins a relationship with her daughter, Izzy. She fears losing both her friend and her daughter. Alice desperately tries to break them up, but Steve is prepared to fight back, and their once-close bond quickly turns into a bitter rivalry.
People have called Alice and Steve a funny, chaotic, and realistic portrayal of friendship, family, and love – and even an unconventional romantic comedy.

The first images from the new drama, set in London, show Nicola Walker and Jemaine Clement performing together, hinting at the developing bond between their characters. We also get a look at Yali Topol Margalith as their daughter, Izzy, and co-star Joel Fry.

The show has added several new actors to the cast, including Tyrese Eaton-Dyce (known for Sherwood), Marcia Warren (The Crown), Eilidh Fisher (Dope Girls), and Ebony Aboagye (Mood).
Created and written by Sophie Goodhart (known for her work on shows like Sex Education and Rivals), Alice and Steve is a Hulu Original series that will be available to stream exclusively on Disney+ in the UK.

When the show was first announced, Nicola Walker expressed her excitement about joining the series, describing it as a wonderfully complex world of friendships, family, and intense emotions. She also said she was particularly happy to be working alongside Jemaine Clement.
Nicola Walker fans will be happy to see her in a new role, as her popular BBC legal drama, The Split, ended in 2024, and she previously left ITV’s Unforgotten in an emotional storyline back in 2021.
The popular detective show Annika, starring Nicola Walker as the lead investigator, released its second season on BBC late last year. It originally premiered almost two years prior on U&Alibi. After the new season’s release, the Scottish coastal drama quickly became popular on BBC iPlayer, trending among viewers.
Alice and Steve is coming to Disney+ and is expected to arrive in the summer.
