Gates McFadden will talk Star Trek: Discovery in season 3 of her show

As a dedicated Star Trek fan with decades worth of memories etched into my neural pathways, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia-tinged excitement at the prospect of InvestiGates’ third season. Gates McFadden has been an exceptional host, delving deep into the lives of those who’ve brought our favorite characters to life.

It appears that podcasts are quite popular these days. Among them are the 7th Rule podcast by Deep Space Nine’s Cirroc Lofton, The Delta Flyers hosted by Voyager stars Garrett Wang and Robert Duncan McNeil, and the D-Con Chamber podcast, hosted by Enterprise stars Dominic Keating and Connor Trinneer. With Gates McFadden contributing as well, there seems to be a podcast for everyone.

Each of the above podcasts serve a unique purpose. The 7th Rule talks a lot about Deep Space Nine, among other current Trek-topics. The Delta Flyers was an episode review podcast built around Voyager but shifted ears to Deep Space Nine after Voyager ended. The D-Con Chamber podcast focuses more on Star Trek stars, while being morer of a “late-night show” for Trek fans.

McFadden’s InvestiGates podcast primarily explores the individuals behind Star Trek rather than the series itself. Over time, she’s delved into the personal stories of numerous Star Trek actors and actresses, and this trend continues with a new season. She’s already interviewed Original Series star William Shatner, along with several cast members from The Next Generation, such as LeVar Burton, Brent Spiner, Jonathan Frakes, Denise Crosby, and Wil Wheaton.

Additionally, she has interviewed Nana Visitor from Deep Space Nine, Michael Dorn (who also played Worf), and series guest-star John de Lancie. Furthermore, she has moved on to more recent Trek productions, chatting with Kate Mulgrew (the lead of Voyager and Prodigy), Tawny Newsome from Lower Decks, and Anson Mount who plays the leading role in Strange New Worlds.

Now she’ll do it again. Her third season lineup, according to TrekMovie.com, will include Discovery’s Sonequa Martin-Green, Doug Jones, and David Ajala. She’ll also talk to more from Strange New Worlds with Ethan Peck and Jess Bush. Picard, a show that Gates was on, will get some more names with Michelle Hurd and Todd Staswick.

At last, a beloved figure from an Enterprise setting, D-Con Chamber co-host Trinneer, is set to grace Gates’ program. More stars may join for the third season, so keep an eye out for updates.
