It’s never easy to see your ex moving on so publicly and so quickly after a divorce, especially when it comes to sharing heartfelt messages about a new love interest.
According to sources close to him, Joe Jonas perceives Sophie Turner’s affectionate birthday post for her new partner as a rather unexpected and somewhat hurtful gesture, given their recent divorce.
In September 2023, Jonas, aged 35, initiated a divorce from the 28-year-old Game of Thrones actress, a month prior to photographs surfacing of her kissing British nobleman Peregrine Pearson, who is 30 years old, in Paris.
This September saw the conclusion of their divorce, as Turner publicly announced her new relationship on Instagram over the weekend, sharing a collection of photos that spanned their one-year long love affair.
Jonas found the post where she referred to Pearson as her ‘angel pie’ particularly painful, given that they had just finalized their divorce after a difficult, prolonged court case.

Different scenes depict her adjusting his tie during a social gathering and casually perched on his lap, holding a beer bottle.
‘Happy Birthday my angel pie, 30, flirty and thriving,’ she captioned the post.
The actress’ latest romantic involvement is with the oldest son and future head of the Pearson family, Lord Cowdray – a previous movie producer who holds a substantial portion of the Pearson media conglomerate.
Despite Turner’s reported wealth of $10 million, it’s just a fraction compared to the estimated family fortune of Peregrine, which exceeds £224 million, equivalent to approximately $273 million.
He has a $5million pad in Chelsea while his father owns a sprawling mansion in West Sussex with 22 bedrooms and 16,500 acres of grounds.
His ancestral estate is home to Cowdray Park Polo Club – which boasts ten pitches and hosts more than 450 matches each year.
Every year, the esteemed club is home to the Gold Cup tournament, a competition that has seen both Prince William and Prince Harry participate.
According to another report, it’s suggested that Jonas anticipates Turner will cause him embarrassment or discomfort in the near future.
‘They mentioned that Joe is likely to encounter further petty behavior from Sophie, as it seems she might act or speak in a way intended to make him uncomfortable.’
Joe is attempting to downplay the situation and avoid getting involved, understanding that responding could backfire against him in the long run. Instead, he’s choosing to remain the more composed individual.
They added: “Joe deeply desired to always have his children’s mother by his side, however, that couldn’t happen. His aim is to be an exceptional father, and he longs for a time when things aren’t constantly challenging.
In 2019, Turner and Jonas, who had parted ways with model Stormi Bree following a short relationship, got married. They share two daughters: Willa, aged four, and Delphine, aged two.
Last September, Jonas initiated a divorce proceeding in Miami, Florida, marking the end of their four-year marriage. Later on, Turner alleged that she discovered this information through the media. She further asserted that he had been withholding their children’s passports.
The couple had major disagreements on where their daughters would live full-time.
Instead of taking them back to her homeland in the UK, Jonas preferred they stayed in the U.S.
