Hello, Celine Dion: Adele's Las Vegas residency hosts another icon and a teary reunion

As a music enthusiast who has admired the enchanting voices of Adele and Celine Dion for years, witnessing their heartfelt reunion was nothing short of a dream come true. The raw emotion they exuded during their emotional embrace was palpable, reminding us all that even superstars are human and capable of such tender moments.

During the weekend, Adele and Celine Dion shared heartfelt emotions with their fans, visibly tearing up and hugging tightly as they reunited.

Céline Dion, famously known for “My Heart Will Go On,” was present on Friday at Adele’s final performance of her popular Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace’s Colosseum. Although Adele dominated the stage with her “Hello” anthem, Dion also had her moment under the limelight and received plenty of affection from the audience.

During her rendition of “While We Were Young,” Adele was seen walking towards Celine Dion and her family in a series of TikTok videos. Upon reaching the French-Canadian legend, she leaned over the railing for an emotional hug, which appeared to make her tear up. The footage also captured Dion holding Adele’s face gently and kissing her hand, while her sons were nearby providing comfort. After Adele left, it seemed like Dion was wiping away tears as well.

A little later in the video, Adele declares, “Let’s applaud Miss Celine Dion!” This statement prompts enthusiastic clapping and a standing ovation from the crowd. In response, Dion stands up, waving and sending kisses.

In that very same scene, I fondly refer to Celine Dion, the esteemed individual who bestowed upon me the Song of the Year Grammy in 2017, as one of my most cherished acquaintances ever.

More recently, Dion’s public appearance sparked a social media frenzy, approximately two years following her announcement in December 2022 about her diagnosis with Stiff-Person Syndrome, an uncommon neurological condition that significantly affected her live music performances. Ever since receiving this diagnosis, the 56-year-old vocalist has temporarily paused performances and expressed that the incurable disorder gives her a sensation of being choked when she tries to sing.

Despite being recently diagnosed, Dion managed to put on a heartfelt rendition of “Hymne à l’amour” by Edith Piaf during the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics – her first live performance since receiving her diagnosis. Following the show, she expressed her gratitude for being given the opportunity to perform at this prestigious sporting event.

During Friday’s performance, Dion wasn’t on the stage, yet he appeared to join in with Adele’s songs by singing and clapping, as suggested by other videos from the event.

In a statement made in September, Adele, who is now 36 years old, revealed that she will be wrapping up her three-year residency in Las Vegas next month. Known as “Weekends With Adele,” her show at the Colosseum debuted in November 2022 and has been extended twice. There are only eight performances remaining on the schedule, with the final one scheduled for Nov. 23.

For the past seven years, I’ve been creating a fresh start for myself, and now it’s time for me to experience it. I long to live the life I’ve constructed, but I’ll deeply miss you.” (104 characters)
