Peter Capaldi’s British comedy is now available to watch on Prime Video

As a long-time fan of British comedy and politics, I can’t help but feel like Christmas has come early with the addition of Armando Iannucci’s masterpiece, “In the Loop,” to Prime Video’s UK streaming catalogue! Peter Capaldi as Malcolm Tucker is nothing short of a revelation, his razor-sharp wit and biting sarcasm never fail to deliver.

In the United Kingdom, the political satire titled “In the Loop,” featuring actor Peter Capaldi, is now available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

2009 saw the debut of a movie directed by and written by Armando Iannucci, who is also known for his popular series The Thick of It. This film serves as a spin-off, featuring reprised character Malcolm Tucker, portrayed by Capaldi, who plays the role of the UK Government’s Communications Director.

In this movie, Malcolm, portrayed by Capaldi, travels to America to monitor and correct the actions of the UK’s Minister for International Development, Simon Foster (played by Tom Hollander), following his unwise comment about a potential military action in the Middle East during an interview.

The screenplay for “In the Loop” was jointly written by Iannucci, along with his regular partners Jesse Armstrong, Simon Blackwell, and Tony Roche. Their collective effort earned them a nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay at the 2010 Academy Awards.

Apart from Capaldi and Hollander, this film showcases an impressive ensemble cast, including James Gandolfini from The Sopranos, Gina McKee from Notting Hill, Anna Chlumsky from Veep, and Chris Addison from The Thick of It. In this movie, Addison portrays the character Toby Wright.

Speaking about Capaldi, he’s shared some heartfelt recollections of his days working on the TV series, “Doctor Who”.

In a recent crime thriller titled “Criminal Record,” alongside Cush Jumbo, Capaldi shared his thoughts about portraying the Twelfth Doctor, stating that embodying the Time Lord was “far more enjoyable” compared to playing himself.

While observing Tom Baker in conversation, he mentioned that when he played Doctor Who, he engaged in numerous public appearances because embodying the Doctor was far more enjoyable than being Tom Baker. I can relate, as I believe the same sentiment applies to me – portraying Doctor Who is more exhilarating than being myself.” (said to Radio Times)

As a gaming enthusiast, I’m excited to share that I can stream “In the Loop” on Amazon Prime Video here in the UK. For my fellow gamers based in the US, you can rent the movie on Apple TV or catch it on AMC+!
